I bought the very first version of the electric sharpener when they were new to the market and used it for over a decade. I had to replace the bands obviously due to use and had to replace the guards once time due to wear from the thousands of times a knife blade was pulled through them. That being said, over 10 years later, I still have that device and it runs like the day I got it. This week I upgraded to the MK2 design finally and what a change that was. I had no clue just how much easier it would be to use and how much better it would sharpen my knives in the kitchen. With the MK2 I don't need to have any skill really, no special knowledge of knife sharpening, nothing more than being able to pull a knife across a belt at a similar speed. I was able to sharpen knives that have been beaten to death in just a few minutes to literally shave my arm. I was shocked. I think one of the biggest factors is the accuracy of the blade guide vs the old model. The Mk2 does a great job at putting the blade exactly where it needs to be to get that perfect burr and then again to get that laser sharp edge we usually only see on high dollar knives or knives the first time we use them. Even my old cleaver is razer sharp now after just a few minutes. I think it took maybe 10 pulls on the grinder belt, then 10 more on the fine finishing belt and I was done. I had to warn the family to be careful with the knives as they are sharp again. Being so easy to set up means it only takes me a moment to get the device on the table and ready for action. This means I will use it more often to maintain my sharp knives. If its a pain to set up and becomes a task I am not going to resharpen as often. This tool removes all that worry. I find myself even taking it our just to put a fresh edge on my finer knives before I cut a nice meat or carve a bird. Sure there are way to get even sharper knives but that is for people who enjoy the art of knife sharpening. A lot of folks really do enjoy the satisfaction of a wet stone and metal and years of skill producing an amazing edge. If you are that person, this isn't your tool. But if you are like most folks and want to be able to make chef sharp kitchen knives with no skill, no learning time, no practice, and minimal effort, this is your tool for sure. I really love this MK2 and can't wait to use it for years to come.

I have quite some knives. But light user. So I m a beginner of sharpening. Got some stones, and I got pretty steady hands. But still always took a while to acquire a mediocre sharpness on my kitchen knives. Now it's all completely changed. This MK2 is a little monster. Easy and fast. How to tell? Go cut a tomato, before and after, u will be surprised right away. Huge release from those sharpening stones. Not trashing stone though. But I will leave that to professionals. U do need to read all the instructions carefully, and practice for a while on some cheap knives. Took me a week to get some razor sharp result. Couldn't be happier. This MK2 i bought, comes with 20 & 25 degree angle options. 3 types of grit belt, 2 belt for each grit. P80, p220, 6000. P80 is for some really hard grinding on very dull blades. I haven't use it yet. P220 is the one I start, 20degree on the kitchen knife that can't slice the tomato. Fast speed 1-2 stroke on each side, see a little sparks, comes out super sharp right away. Usually with stones, u have to go double or triple grit step by step, till u hit 3000 or 6000. Man that's a exhausting process. But with electric belt, I think that's why it become easer. Coz it's lot lot faster than hand grinding. With MK2, u can skip all grits in between. After 220, give 1-2 stroke on 6000, u are done. I do some leather strop after this, hope to help edge hold longer. Now tomato again, knife drop slices with almost no pressure at all. Make sure get a dedicated area or platform to use it. Just to keep dust away from the house, or easy to clean. After sharpening, brush dust away from grinder, to keep it in good shape. I believe this will last u long long time. Belts are easy to get through Amazon or manufacturer website Oh last thing. Always keep tomatoes in your kitchen. Cut it, then u know if u need to sharpen your knife ^_^

Very easy to use. I need to use it more, it did fairly well on my favorite pocket knife. Not quite as good as I was hoping for. But I think I need to experiment with different grit belts. We’ll see. Super fast. You’ll spend just a few minutes to sharpen a knife. I would recommend this. Great price for what you get. Usage I would give it 5 out of 5. The 4 is a the edge. But again, I need to use it more. I’m fairly sure sharpness will improve

Great knife sharpener. Easy to get your knives sharp. It took me maybe 2 minutes to get all my knives sharp. Changing the sanding belts is easy and fast.

Have been sharpening with a stone for maybe 5 years or so. This device has turned an unsure exercise into a certain result that takes less than a third of the time. The few complaints I had faded away as I used it and become accustomed to it's proper use. Have not tried sharpening my lawnmower blades yet but my kitchen knives, pocket knives and scissors are crazy sharp. A very versatile tool that outshines any other option both in ease of use and bang for the buck.

For what I paid for this I'm very disappointed in the product. It's missing one of the rubber stabilizers on the bottom and this thing wobbles all over the place without it. As for now it's worthless to me just from a safety standpoint. (Update - New sharpener came today, this one is not missing that stabilizer and it makes all the difference when I'm sharpening large kitchen knives, and a heavy cleaver. Now it works perfectly and would definitely recommend!

Excelente opcion para afilar cuchillos perpendicular al filo como de fabrica. No es muy ruidoso Es facil de usar La banda solo gira en una dirección pero tiene dos ranuras para afilar ambos lados del cuchillo... De todos los sistemas y maquinas que he usado para afilar este es el mejor. Yo no se mantener el angulo como para afilar con piedras por eso este es mejor y rapido Recomiendo comprar mas bandas y de diferente grano

Let me get the negative out the way, Amazon state this is 110v it isn’t it’s 230v 50hz eu standard. Now this didn’t harm me I’m just glad I read some of the comments where 1 individual stated it was 230v and was the sole reason I bought it as I live in the UK. Now to what should have been the only thing I was going to type this tool is absolutely awesome it does exactly what it should I have no prior experience with this tool or anything like it the instructions are easy to follow and precise and my knifes are now razor sharp if you have been pondering just buy it.

The company's Youtube channel has a great tutorial video that makes this product less intimidating to use for the first time. Great compact design. Quiet. Quick process. Multiple grades of sand belts included, which were easy to switch out. Bilateral blade guide for easy use. Most importantly, great results - exceptionally sharp blades. Highly recommend. It'll make you want to sharpen every blade in your home!
