PAC USB-GM1 Oem Usb Port Retention Cable For Select Gm & Chrysler Vehicles

I wanted to maintain the look, feel, and function of the existing USB plugs located in my 2017 Ford Mustang GT. After installing a new pioneer unit, I found that the plugs from the factory system are mini USB, and didn't want to have to run new USB extension cables. A friend of mine had recently performed a similar upgrade in his 2016 Mustang, and told me to purchase these to retain the same plugs for use with my Pioneer AVH receiver. These worked great, just plugged in to the existing cables, and ran the new USB A to the headunit. I was able to not only retain the existing USB connections, but also use Carplay over the existing connections using this adapter. In my case, I purchased two of them to retain both the plug under the radio, and the one in the center console. Highly recommend these!

I found this item through many hours of research and decided to give it a try. Perfect length and worked perfect to adapt my Kenwood receiver to the factory USB by disconnecting the factory cable from the SYNC box and connecting it to this PAC cable then to the Kenwood. Works great!

Recently installed a KENWOOD Radio in my 2012 Ford F-150. I did’t think it would be such a big job adapting everything to the existing system, I also have Microsoft Sync. Anyway aside from updating the firmware in the radio this was the last piece of the puzzle to get my iPhone and the radio to work with CarPlay. If you plan on installing an aftermarket radio, do your research. Chances are you are going to be short something.

This cable is the only one that works with Jeep Wrangler to use the OEM USB port with android auto. Great quality and fit with OEM plug.

After installing this product with my Carplay/Auto head unit I made some important discoveries. Just as a disclaimer I used this in my FORD vehicle but I would imagine that the results are the came for GM's as well. My Ford was equipped with Sync and the OEM cable was a little long since the module was located in the center console. IF your vehicle has a LONG OEM USB connection you MUST use a stock apple cable to get stable Carplay. Non apple cables may work they just need to be similar in length and in quality, if you are using a 6ft gas station lightning cable it will most likely not work with this adapter. This is true because Carplay needs high speed to work and if your cable combined with the OEM usb extension is more than 10 ft then it's probably not going to be a solid connection. If at first this adapter doesn't work don't blame it or the head unit, try as many different charging cables as you can. Otherwise the product is good, just a tad overpriced.

This is a must if you want to retain the stock usb port in the dash when changing head units. Make for a clean install!

Bought this to keep the factory USB port active on my 2012 F150. The SYNC module sits just under the center dash pocket. Unplug the USB from the module, snake the cable down to where the radio is and hook it up.

I installed this in my 2017 Wrangler to extend the factory USB in the center console up to my new Pioneer Head Unit, it's too short to reach so I needed to add another extension cable. This cable needs to be about 6" longer and it would have worked great. The quality of the cable itself is great though.
