Does this pot work well for making candy/melting sugar?

Yes you can reach the high temps needed (300) using medium heat settings with much less stirring than I had to use with my other pots without the dreaded scorching. I love it...

Can you use to re-heat coffee???

Does this have a flared rim or lip for easy pouring?

No it does not. The handle is a bit problematic. I like the appearance so much that I put up with it.
