(Featured and recommended by Tableau as the first of "7 Books About Machine Learning for Beginners") Want to add 'Machine Learning with Python' to your LinkedIn profile and spin up your own real estate prediction model? Well, hold on there... Before you embark on your journey, there are some high-level theories and statistical principles to weave through first. However, rather than spend $30-$50 USD on a thick textbook, you may want to read this book first. As a clear and concise alternative, this book provides a step-by-step introduction to machine learning concepts designed for absolute beginners . This means plain-English explanations and no coding experience required. Where core algorithms are introduced, clear explanations and visual examples are added to make it easy to follow along. New Updated Edition This new edition features extended chapters with quizzes , updated code for 2026 , an easy introduction to coding with Python , and other downloadable resources not included in the Second Edition. What makes this book different Many machine learning textbooks for beginners aren’t truly written for beginners. As a result, many readers quickly feel lost, overwhelmed, and frustrated. This book was created specifically for people starting from zero. Instead of throwing hundreds of unfamiliar terms at you all at once, concepts are introduced gradually and explained in plain English with easy-to-follow examples. What you will learn: • How to find and download free datasets for machine learning projects • Data cleaning and preparation techniques, including one-hot encoding, binning, and handling missing values • How to prepare data for accurate analysis using methods like k-fold validation • Regression analysis to identify trends and make predictions • k -means clustering to uncover hidden patterns and relationships in data • The fundamentals of neural networks and how modern AI systems learn • A step-by-step beginner project to predict house prices using Python and machine learning Disclaimer: If you have passed the 'beginner' stage in your study of machine learning and are ready to tackle coding exercises and deep learning, you would be better served by other books on machine learning. If, though, you are yet to reach that Lion King moment - as a fully grown Simba looking over the Pride Lands of Africa - then this is the machine learning book to gently hoist you up and give you a clear lay of the land. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Do I need programming experience to complete this book? A: This book is designed for absolute beginners, so no programming experience is required. Q: I have already purchased the Second Edition of Machine Learning for Absolute Beginners, should I purchase this Third Edition? A: As the same topics from the Second Edition are covered in the Third Edition, you would be better served by reading a more advanced book on machine learning and AI. If you have purchased a previous edition of this book and wish to get access to the free video tutorials, please email the author. Q: Does this book include everything I need to become a machine learning expert? A: Unfortunately, no. This book is designed for beginners and further learning will be required beyond this book to master AI and machine learning and become the next Andrew Ng. Review: Easy to read and very affordable! So helpful for my learning! - I wasn’t sure about this author it was very affordable and it wasn’t super popular and didn’t have many reviews but I must say I’m so glad I purchased this book. I have learned about machine learning concepts but I forgot some things and wanted a small concise book I can reference and this has EVERYTHING and MORE of what I need to know for data science and data analysis. I included many photos because I’m one of those people that likes to see what would be in the book to make sure it’s useful to me. In the back he included a link for video tutorials for like regression, doing k-nearest and k-clustering and decision trees. Also included a list of other resources for similar topics to further your reading. I wouldn’t say this is for beginners I feel like it’s more of a crash course for people who generally know this stuff like myself and just need a bit of refresher on what something is or how to do it. If you want a step by step guide showing you exactly what to do and then implementing it like in a project this is not that. This more so just covers the concepts to teach you ABOUT it but not actually APPLYING it to a project throughout the book. If that makes sense. I’ve read other books that build on a project to take what you learn and use it so you will have a finished project by the end of the book. This is something if you need to reference for a specific thing you can flip to that chapter and look at it without needing to know what’s it’s previous chapters. Also I like the little short quizzes at the end of each chapter that’s nice. But if u just want to learn about machine learning and then get other books to go along with this that might be more detailed and apply the concepts in here it’s a very helpful and easy to read book that I think is worth it for such an affordable price. Review: Useful for deeper understanding - It’s fascinating! Should have read this long time ago…

The machine learning and deep learning of AI have exploded. This book will help us.
Thanks to ChatGPT, the machine learning and deep learning worlds of AI have exploded in our world. This book begins the understanding we all need of these probabilistic systems that can fool the Imitation Game and us, but are not the saviors or destroyers of our world. Humans in the loop are essential, so we should not be conned out of our responsibilities. This demands our engagement and understanding, as the builders and vendors of these systems may very well push us, for their extreme profit, to accept these systems long enough for them to become rich and move somewhere there is no extradition...

Accessible entrance to machine learning
I really like this book because everything is explained clearly and it assumes only basic previous knowledge. I was struggling to find a book that clearly and simply explained complicated machine learning concepts, and this is definitely a good start! I will definitely be using it as a reference moving forward. I would recommend this book to anyone new to machine learning and who finds other "starting" resources overwhelming.

Machine Learning for Absolute Beginners
This book was clear and concise with the use of ML program examples and the breakdown of each line item. Most books for beginners, blindly assume that individuals have a fundamental understanding of all aspects of programming and mull over key teaching points. This book was perfect and I highly recommend it it to actual beginners.

Great intro book
After reading the first few chapters I knew this was the book for me. It explains clearly and simply how machine learning works. Although there is some math, it is not too hard to understand. The author carefully builds from one topic to the next, gradually leading the reader how to use Python to develop programs using these strategies.

Good introduction and referrence material
I have been bouncing around this ebook for some time trying to absorb as much as possible, and it's helped me to understand machine learning a lot. The author is good about guiding the reader towards other relevant peripheral knowledge. I recommwnd this to beginners as a good place to start, but for me, it's keeper as referrence material.

Beginners
Very useful to start to learn the basic Machine Learning concepts. With real examples and the "Math" part it's explained step by step and what is the meaning of all used symbols in the functions etc. Not to you implement, but it's aimed to you understand what are you looking for when you have an algorithm function in front of you. The Quiz parts also allow to consolidate the important parts of the chapters.

Great book to start learning on machine learning
It is a great book to start if you have very few knowledge on machine learning. You can get essential fundamental knowledge and light up your enthusiasm. The best thing is it is not expensive.

Too much simplified
I think that the book is very elementar and I think it is not possible to learn very much from it

Understandable explanations
Is a combination of, concepts, and how-to, in a concise reference. And consequently contains understandable explanations, which can be used for getting started. The title phrase, "for Absolute Beginners" is what attracts me to this content, and I have not been dissappointed.
