Way better than I expected
I bought this with one thing in mind-- fixing the plastic fairings on my motorcycle. My bike is old and, although it doesn't look like it's ever been laid down, some of the fairings had mounting tabs that had cracked off. Vibration, heat, and years of UV will do that to plastic. I had already fixed one with fiberglass and epoxy but holding it in position until the resin dried was a bit of a pain. I had a couple more tabs to do and coincidentally saw a video of someone using a hot stapler like this one. It didn't take long for me to start searching for an inexpensive one to try out. When I bought it, this was the cheapest hot stapler with decent reviews. It cost $23 and at that price I expected it to help me fix a few fairings and then maybe burst into flames or electrocute me. Well, I haven't been electrocuted or lit on fire (at least not by this tool). In all I sunk maybe a half dozen staples into the fairings, then used epoxy and fiberglass cloth to reinforce the areas wherever I could. Even without the fiberglass, the repairs were pretty strong. After the epoxy dried, the mounting tabs were at least as strong as they were from the factory, probably stronger. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to use. The price was low but it works fine and doesn't feel cheap. The position and depth of the staples was easy enough to control, which was a relief because the fairings are thin and I was afraid of blowing a staple out through the other side. This tool paid for itself in a single use. The sub-$25 I spent wouldn't even buy a single fairing for my old bike (assuming I could even find any) so I'm dollars ahead already. This is a great entry-level tool if you want to fix a couple of things quickly and inexpensively. It's also a good starter tool if you're on the fence about how useful it will be. It does a good enough job to earn a spot in my toolbox. I'll keep using it until it either breaks or I run out of things to fix.

Works GREAT!
I bought this to repair plastic attachment tabs on the interior trim of my son’s BMW. The trim isn’t available anymore and very hard to find used with hood tabs. This worked great! I had some of the broken pieces and was able to fuse them back together with the straight staples - this was easy to use - heats up in SECONDS and the hold is STRONG! I like that the heat is variable based on how much you pull the trigger - this is helpful with some thinner, softer plastic. I was a bit hesitant to purchase the lower wattage, less expensive version of this tool, but was glad I did! It gets plenty hot enough to do the job. This seems well made, the finish/quality of the tool is good and it “feels” good in your hand - not cheap and flimsy. It performs better than one my buddy paid $90 for. As any other tool, it takes a bit of practice to get the feel of it - I did burn right through a few practice pieces before I got the hang of it; but once I did, it was easy. It also works with the .6mm refill staples that are readily available on Amazon. The .8mm work also, but don’t quite fit as well in the elements. Don’t hesitate to buy this product - it works great.

Kit did not come with all the parts pictured
The seller apologized for the misleading item description and corrected it to say that the kit only includes the plastic box, welding gun, staples, and wire cutters. Seller also refunded a fair portion of the purchase price to make the kit I received worth the value I believe it to be with the parts it includes. Buyers need to be aware that the mesh, plastic welding rods and welding foot shown in the photos are not part of the kit. The welding gum works well, and the kit comes with a good selection of different gauge (wire thickness) staples. Even though the kit did not include the plastic welding feet and rods, I was able to accomplish some plastic welding by using hot staples and was able to get the cracks in a plastic radiator sealed down to a dribble. With some plastic welding rods and a welding foot, I’m sure I can finish the repair well. While I was disappointed in the misleading item description, I gave a 4 star rating based on how well the welder works and how the seller approached making the situation right—and that the item description note reflects only information about the parts that come with the kit (If like it to clearly state what is not included, but the seller’s actions exceeded my expectations.

Awesome Tool! Can't say enough about it
One of the best tools I've ever used. As a "fixer" of broken things, it not only holds plastic together it actually makes it strong. When you consider that the option is to throw it away because it's broken, this is a fairly inexpensive and really useful tool. Also I've found that a sanding tool like a die grinder or Dremel tool cleans up the cut off pokey ends and makes it smooth. Pretty cool idea someone came up with here!

One of my fav tools
This is one of my fav tools now. Easy to use and has plenty of types of staples to get the job done. I was able to repair the grill on my John Deere with ease. Trying to fix that without the staples did not work at all, but this kit with the staples saved me from buying a new grill. Wish I had this tool when I fixed the hood. I have also used this tool to fix the plastic cover on my pole saw, and a base on a tower fan. Having the ability to use staples feels like a must when it comes to repairing plastic parts. Tool is very easy to use, heats up fast and has enough variety of staples to tackle most repairs. Everything is packaged nice and the tool case is able to hold the tool itself and the staples. Only thing I wish was that the tool box was just a tad bit bigger to allow us to store the plastic welding rods and repair tape that comes with the kit.

50w plastic welder
Works well on most plastics, use you’re best judgment, if it’s super thin it’ll go straight through it. Using it is super simple, insert the desired barb into the gun, pull the trigger and a LED lights up what you’re working on, the barb will glow red hot and it’s ready to set. Once you’ve set your barb it’s important to let it cool completely before trying to remove the gun from the barb, once it’s cooled you can remove the gun without unseating it. Once you cut off the barbs points you’ll needs to sand or file them down as they are pointy enough to catch a finger. The case is a standard plastic and holds a good bit of barbs, heater gun and angle cutters. The angle cutters are garbage and won’t cut the barbs effectively, any other pair of cutters will do the job much better. All in all chuck the cutters and fix a lot of cracked plastic, the value of your dollar is there with an effective tool in a simple package, the effectiveness of it depends on the user.

Okay for the price
I needed to repair an 8 inch crack on an HDPE slide. HDPE is notorious for not accepting glue. Plastic welding seemed to be the way to go. Plastic welders come in a wide variety of prices from expensive professional models to, well, this one. This repair is likely a one off so, I went low cost. The repair consisted of melting in wire "staples" across the split at about 1-inch intervals, cutting off the ends and melting over the crack. I used HDPE rods (not included) to fill in the wider parts of the crack. The result looks like a bad surgery scar, sort of like Frankenstein but, it looks like it'll hold. Good news: This plastic welder does what it says. It's basically a simple soldering gun with a specialized end to accept the staples. It sets staples quickly and, if you let up on the trigger in between, you can set a lot of them in a short time. Welding tips work and, with a bit of practice, they don't look terrible. Sanding with successive grits might improve the appearance. Inserting the staples leaves a bit of a welt. You will need to use the welding tip to smooth them over. Bad news: The duty cycle isn't great. As I mentioned earlier, it does well inserting staples. That uses only short bursts of heat. Welding is another matter. The heating element has a thermal cutoff (probably a bi-metal switch) which will cut off the gun until it cools off. With this larger repair, I spent more time waiting for the gun to cool than actually welding plastic. Warning: The supplied wire cutters are a bad joke. They required wrangling to cut the staple legs. They are side cutters so it could be difficult to get close to flush and still get a grip to make the cut. And, close to flush is as good as you'll get, leaving a 1mm or so sharp point sticking out. I didn't have any other cutters or file with me, so I melted welding stick over them. Flush cutting nippers would work much better. Bottom Line: You get what you pay for. With practice and patience, you can get a decent result. But, if you plan to do a lot of plastic welding repairs, look farther up the price/ performance curve.

Not what they showing in the add
Tool its self is not too bad so far. What I did not like is that they show one think in the add and send you smaller number of staples.

Works well
Works well for what I needed it for. ( fixing a cracked fender on a quad) but if I had my time back I would of got the one that came with the filler to hide the crack.
