Blends into original game flawlessly and gracefully.
This expansion pairs with the original game better than all others in my opinion. It add enough variation to be unique without being confusing. These blend in so well with the original game I often forget they didnt come with the original game. Shapeshifters- one of the most unique factions. Has a little bit of everything. Using strategy with them works great, but it also works for new players. Time travelers- very useful companion to any other deck. They have abilities that are pretty similar to what zombies can do, so it may be wise not to pair the two together unless you know what you're doing. Spies- the most strategic of the expansion. Get used to what they can do and they will be a great deck to use. Apes- strong minions which can be helpful in many situations Overall, go ahead and pick this expansion up if you are looking for a new way to play the game we all love so much.

The Technical Expansion
I saved this review for last with this expansion I built one of my first decks I won a SmashUp tournament with I got paid. This deck is good with all expansion. A good choice to buy with Awesome Level 9000. If you can only buy this deck or Awesome Level 9000 I would go with Awesome Level 9000. However this expansion has a more technical play style than the other expansion in what you can do. However a few play through's and you should be fine. You have to really read the cards because often you can do multiple things a turn that you not fully realize until you gain more experience playing. Its a very good set. All of the expansions play similar to the base set with the exception of the Cthulu

Stirred in time, not shaken... ditto...
The latest expansion/ add on for Smash Up is here and this one is full of tongue in cheek references to spy movies, time traveling Doctors and... Monkeys? With the high quality I am (we) are accustomed for we anxiously waited till this box to get in the mail. As usual we are extremely satisfied with the strong beautiful box, that it now brings VP tokens, a separate rule book to smile while reading one of the easiest rule books I have ever read as of yet and then comes the cards. Each faction comes in shrink wrap tightly sealed for their protection. The art is as usual, great (some more than others). Some factions are better than other, but it all depends with who you pair it with, so it all comes to how you like to play the game. Lets not forget that it also brings some new bases (forgot how many) so that you and some fellow world mongers can go back in time, re-animate corpses, upgrade dinosaurs, sail away with pirates, poison a Cthulhu cultist or throw monkey feces at each other. Smash Up have my money for as long as they want it.!

Espionage, Time Travel, Dopplegangers, and Crazy Apes... Another winner!
We have been playing Smash Up ever since our kids received it as a gift a couple of weeks ago and based on the fun we were having I decided to add the Smash Up: Science Fiction Double Feature expansion pack. The factions meld nicely with the original game and the Awesome Level 9000 and as is Smash Up's niche, the play of card identifies with each faction's theme. Shape shifters mimic other minions in play, Cyborg Apes use their brawn with actions, Secret Agents give you intel on other players and time travelers go back in time to undo or redo your moves. As a whole this expansion pack is a lot of fun. I give it four stars as not all factions seem to be equally powerful. Cyborg Apes and Shape Shifters are the most powerful in the set, but time travelers and Secret Agents are more passive and I am still searching for the proper faction to pair them with to get the most out of their abilities. Regardless, they are still as much fun to play as the others, just more challenging to win with so far. But trial and error and changing game play experience is what makes Smash Up so fun to play. I highly recommend this expansion set.

Good addition to a great game
A great addition including four new factions and some scoring tokens which are nice to have considering there were none that came with the original game. The new factions have already been worth the price because we've used them to include more players into the game. The box says up to 4 players, but we've had 6 playing at our game night without any issues. The only possible downside, depending on your group, is that the amount of downtime between turns increases. This hasn't been an issue with my gaming group, and we definitely will continue to play with more than four players due to how easy it is to play and the amount of fun to be had battling for position in a particular base! A good addition to a great game, the cyborg monkeys are my personal favorite new faction!

The Long Over Due Expansion (The True 2nd Expansion)
This is exactly what Smash Up! fans expected as a real expansion, instead of that Cthulu-only expansion which was completely out of place in the Smash Up! world. This gives you four completely different factions, which once again- play exactly like you'd think they would. Once again, the designer works a masterpiece, making factions which feel exactly like they should. Shapeshifters feel like shapeshifters, mimicing the enemy. Spies are kindof like the Ninjas but do not hide, and instead spy on the enemy's cards. Just like a Spy would. Cyborg Apes are a lot like the Laser Dinosaurs, as you'd expect. They love those high-tech powerup items. However, just as one would desire- the Apes use their intelligence (actions) rather than their pure strength (dinosaurs). Although both feel animalistic and heavy in power, the Apes are definitely more intelligent than the more muscle-bound dinosaurs. Finally, you have the time travelers. They warp around the game like you'd think they would. Kill one or send it to the discard? Doesn't matter. A different timeline version just warped back, fixing their mistakes just as a time traveler would! Did you not do good enough the first time? Luckily, the ability to time travel will allow your deck to try again! I cannot express how much every deck in Smash Up! (excluding the Cthulu expansion) plays out exactly as you'd think they would. The game makes you feel like you are what you choose to play as, and this expansion is no exception!

Strong but fun.
The four new factions in Sci-Fi Double Feature are really fun. They bring really interesting new abilities to the table and they mostly have refreshing new play styles compared to the original twelve. I particularly like the Shapeshifters - they require a bit more thinking and planning than most other factions, and their payoff can be outstanding. The one complaint that I have is that each of these factions is a little too strong compared to the original eight. The spies in particular have too many cards that hit a little bit too hard, and they seem to do everything that the Ninjas do, but just a bit better. Still, this expansion is awesome. Definitely grab it if you like Smash Up.

Great Expansion!!
Love this game. The expansion is great. The Cyber Apes are very strong, so watch out. The Time Travelers are unique and require some time to get things going. The Super Spies are fun and would play well against the Wizards. The Shapeshifters are an interesting bunch and would take some time getting use to playing against. I first played the expansion alone, just to get a sense of the overall mechanics of the new factions and bases. Though, the next games played very well with the rest of the expansions and base set of course. Super excited with this expansion, love the game.

I absolutely love this game.
Smash Up is quite possibly my favorite new board game. I like this expansion; it does a lot more than the Obligatory Cthulhu expansion does, and adds a nice variety to our games.

Excellent Customer Service
Got this and counted all the cards (make sure you do that). Noticed that the Cybernetic Apes only had 19 cards, instead of 20. Sent it back to Amazon and received replacement the next day. Excellent expansion for those who love this game, just make sure you count your cards!

DON"T TELL
Just between you and me the Shape-Shifters are deadly. SmashUp has more or less superseded Dominion and Munchkin at our house. When we get good at a particular combination we try to home our skills on another combination. I think we may have all the expansion decks by now, but ti makes for a lot of combinations to try.
