You can assemble them in the pod of 4 or stack them 4 high, or 2 stacks of 2. They were easy to assemble and the neutral color goes with any decor. I stacked them 4 high and am happy with the resuts.

At first I was mad it had no instructions at all. Then after building one I realized it can be too complex to explain how to build. Depending on your configuration you may use parts in different positions to make it work for you. They did say DYI. I use them for a small movie editing suite. In the cases are SSD drives, media, scripts notes, cables, and actors pictures. Very modern slick and clean design. I added some LED lights in the back to give the room a slight glow. The cubes create a lighting effect like a giant soft box. I love it, reminds me when I was in Japan.

I bought 2 the first pack was good no problems but the second was missing a door.

These work great and I love how we can choose different arrangements to fit my daughters room. I do wish there were printed instructions, it’s easy to put together but we had to do part of it more than once. They also fit small 11” square totes perfectly!
