It works!! - Many years ago, I visited Lilydale and met with a gentleman who was then in his late sixties or so. He told me what his definition of being psychic was. "It's being in control of your life". I nodded knowingly. I didn't have a clue as to what he meant. This book has been criticized as having a bunch of stupid, useless exercises in it by one reviewer. I'm not surprised. Most of us are looking for those Cecil B. DeMille moments to become excited about. We want to join that group that is making a lot of noise about an issue and promising grand results. We're not too concerned by those who say, "Hey, this is simple and you can do it quietly at home. The trick is to keep at it". The exercises in this book are designed to hone skills that would, indeed, increase your abilities as a psychic. They also will help to make you a more thoughtful, aware human being. Not all that exciting to some. This is a thoughtful book. I like it. Remember these lines from a Robert W. Service poem: "And each forgets, as he cuts and runs with his brilliant, fitfull pace, it's the steady, quiet, plodding ones who win in the lifelong race". Good luck if you purchase this book. I don't think you'll go wrong. Review: Positive & powerful - I’ve not ever read this subject matter because as a young person I was a devote in my Christianity & was told to stay away. You can be a Christian & a practicing psychic. (I’m a Zen Buddhist, for those of you keeping score.) Now that I’m much older I wish I would have read this book years ago. But I digress, this is a straight forward easy to read book with practical exercises anyone will benefit from. Does it hurt anyone if you are more aware? I have had spiritual experiences before, now I can put them in context. I highly recommend this book. It is positive, teaches you how to protect yourself and get results beneficial to yourself & others.

This Is The Book To Learn About ESP
When I bought Psychic Development for Beginners, I had expected a lot of useless New Age silliness but I was surprised to find that the author really knows his subject. He knows that the true key to psychic abilities is being able to enter the theta state, and points this out quite often. The only problem is that the exercises he has, doesn't help much to achieve that end, though. If you could enter that elusive theta brainwave state, then the exercises would be of considerable value but those exercises won't help you get into alpha or theta; you have to figure that out for yourself it seems. But that matter aside, the author covers a lot of ground and provides considerable and reliable information for someone who has no previous knowledge of ESP and psychic phenomena other than what they might have seen in the movies or on TV. This is indeed a very good book for begining psychics and I don't know of any book that's any better.

Just as the title says ... Easy Guide
With all the choices available on psychic development it's hard to know which one to choose. I am so glad I came across this one. I know some people have negatively mentioned the cases or stories the author relates, but I personally found them interesting and helpful. They are included as illustrations to specific points he is making at the time. I do believe that some people pick this up easier than others and by his own admission his mother was a 'gifted psychic.' So, undoubtedly he had a head start on some of us. I find his advice helpful and specific. So many books deal in generalities and leave it up to the reader to infer a lot of the details. No so with Hewitt ... very specific steps that he suggests the reader to use to accomplish certain objectives. I'm sure this is one book I'll go back to over and over.

A very easy to follow guide to developing your psychic abilities
Like the majority of people, I wasn't born with exceptional psychic powers but many things have happened in my life that have led me to believe in synchronicity and to listen to my own intuition. This book gives people like me some insight into ways that we can develop our innate psychic powers, even though we may not consider that we were born 'gifted' in that respect. The author offers a set of simple, easy to follow exercises for us to try out with a view to enhancing our psychic abilities and living a fuller and happier life and maybe even being able to help others along the way. I've been doing the exercises now for about 3 weeks with some quite amazing results. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for a very simple technique
This book has many ideas for practicing your psychic abilities. All of them essentially revolve around the essential technique for using the power of your mind - imagine what you desire to have as if you already have it. If you are looking for varieties of techniques and for elaborate methods of visualization and training your sensory perception, you may find this book too simple. If you have been using the power of your mind successfully, or wanted ideas for more applications, than you can find ideas for experimenting in this book. Then again, if you have been using the power of your mind for quite some time, you may have already experimented with most of these techniques.

Cardio for Brains
In `Psychic Development for Beginners: An Easy Guide to Developing and Releasing Your Psychic Abilities,' psychic and hypno-therapist, William Hewitt writes an extremely easy book to read on an interesting subject which he claims everyone innately possesses in some degree. Training is key to developing this ability, but more so is to understand the mechanism and science that lies behind the power of the human brain and the health benefits that will be accrued. Hewitt offers rudimentary information with regard to the actual science behind developing the skills he discusses and exemplifies. He explains the benefit of lowering the brain's operating frequency in a manner that I propose is similar to that of health and wellness practitioners who have proven that the key to good corporeal health is in lowering our resting heart rate through diet and exercise. The brain needs its own brand of exercise that like beneficial cardio for the heart through repetition allows the brain to function more optimally with less work. Hewitt describes the various brainwave states as discovered by Hans Berger, the first person to record electroencephalograms in 1929 and introduces a series of preliminary exercises that will enable the frequent practitioner to achieve the all important alpha and theta states. For the curious reader who needs a little more information regarding this science, I recommend an older book entitled " Megabrain " by Michael Hutchison that allows a more detailed comprehension of pioneering brain research. Most of Hewitt's book consists of visualization exercises that firstly develop the five senses and then moves on to what he calls the basic psychic level. Depending on your innate creativity and ability to envision within your mind's mental screen, the perfect execution of these first exercises could take many months to achieve. Once this occurs however, Hewitt believes it is extremely important to protect oneself with what a spiritual teacher of mine calls the "canopy of light." Another spiritual friend invites the presence of Archangel Michael to spiritually protect her. Another prays to God to encircle her in white light. Nevertheless, however you perceive this psychic armor, the idea of surrounding oneself with positive energy is the one imperative step that cannot be omitted as the encroachment of anything negative can overwhelm and make one ill. In addition, right-mindedness also reigns supreme when moving forward to the next series of exercises that focus on visualization, healing, clairvoyance, divination, astral travel, issues in the past and the future and the handling of many other quotidian events that once dealt with can allow one to create the kind of life about which he/she dreams. Again practice make perfect. Like many other books of this nature, Hewitt includes many affirmations of the techniques described, some of which are vague and most of which just invoke the technique employed to reach the basic psychic level. Keeping in mind that attaining alpha and theta states helps the body to heal should be reason enough to develop the skills he mentions. Hewitt's style is easy to read; his exercises are simple to understand but more difficult to put into action. Benefits derived from repeated use, however, will definitely result in the necessary decrease in brain operating frequency that promotes better overall health. Bottom line? William Hewitt writes an easy to read and implement beginner's book that helps the reader to develop the senses and exercise the brain like cardio works out the heart. In the first half of the book, one learns to visualize and get to the basic psychic level. In the second half one uses the basic psychic state to handle various everyday issues. Some of his case studies are trite, but they add breeziness to the read that urges the reader to get to the last page and think about the exercises in terms of functionality. Great Mental Exercise book!
I bought this work on kindle really to figure out what was going on with/how to control my out of control psychic abilities. This book actually has good exercises for you to do. I like the fact that the book overall delves into meditation; just not any type of meditation; but a meditation that you can put an agenda to. Among various psychic exercises the writer also suggested using tea leaves as a good means of practice. I guess tea leaves, with their intricate and unique detail, can help in exercising the mind through searching them. However, I suggest getting a subscription to forex, futures or commodities data feed. Reading up on the indicators then seeing how best the chart and your predictions can "Line up"; by making the chart predict the prices next move in your eyes. Psychic development is an invitation to "Noise" as you are questioning about things other than yourself; so I highly recommend Jeffrey Thompson's "Brainwave music system", here on amazon: www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/1602970076/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_img_sol_0
