Lots of pictures, direct basic explanation
A nice simple book for someone (myself) without prior knowledge, who is curious about car engine. It's got lots of pictures and straight forward factual information without much technical (again for someone who is not a mechanic/engineer) jargons.

Nice little book
Bought this as a Chirstmas gift for someone, so I'm not yet sure if they like it. However, I flipped through it before wrapping it, and it is a fun, short, book which explains the very basics of engine operations. It is probably aimed at children in the 8+ year old range, but it might also work for curious girlfriends who are always asking questions, but don't actually want to know the deep technical details. If any of you happen to also be in that situation.

How car engine works
Perfect, brought for my 12 year old. Illustration Looks like it may be for younger but Simple enough to understand without being condescending to his age.

As expected, and happy with content.
It gave me an understanding of an engine as a complete novice.

I wish I had read this book before studying mechanical engineering.
I took 3 thermodynamic courses while studying engineering. We solved problems regarding the differing cycles (diesel, gas, etc). At the time, I was just blindly calculating numbers that had no significance. That’s how we were taught. As I was reading this book, I started connecting dots and began to pair the numerical calculations with the detailed imagery from this book. All of a sudden, everything made sense. I wish more professors would integrate real world imagery with the abstract concepts they teach. Learning would become more efficient and it would open up so many new creative ideas. The author of this book clearly lives by that moto. This book is a must read! 10/10
