Great Food Processor...So Far
Let me start with two facts: 1) Even though the write-up does not indicate this, this came with a dicing kit (like the 14-cup version does)--this dicing set-up is supposed to retail for an extra $179; 2) This is about $100 less expensive than the 14-cup version (which I had and which came DOA, was replaced, and then died in less than a year!), and yet all the parts of the 14-cup version fit this 13-cup machine, including the 14-cup basket, which appears to be exactly the same size(!). IF this actually lasts more than 9 months, I'll be very happy with it. The slicing option is great, and I really like the fact I can select the thickness of the slices. I love the dicing function; I use it to cut tomatoes for the salad bar I provide each month for our church's fellowship lunch--it turns an hour-long process of hand dicing 5 or 6 lbs. of tomatoes into a 10-minute process. I use firm Roma tomatoes, but as long as they're not soft, they dice beautifully. And it also works perfectly for diced potatoes, beats, onions, and anything else FIRM you want diced into 3/8" cubes. I wish the on/off buttons on this were actually buttons and not just spots on the front of the machine you're supposed to push. This (and the 14-cup version) often takes two or three tries before the machine turns on. It takes quite a stiff push to turn them on; I often use my thumb rather than a finger. I did purchase the 3-year extended warranty, and would highly recommend that to anyone purchasing a Kitchenaid Food Processor. Years ago, their reputation was different, but today, they aren't as dependable.

good purchase
My wife and I were deciding on the Cuisinart FP 14 white elite 14 cup or the Kitchenaid 13 cup. I chose the Kitchenaid KFP1333 for a christmas present. Since I did not purchase both I can only say the Kitchenaid is fine and my wife loves it. The first chore was hard cheddar cheese for mac and cheese. It handled this like soft butter with no issues. Again I can only say this uint is fine and I am sure it will live up to the Kitchenaid legacy. Update 01-08-2012. Today my wife made a dish that requires sweet potatoes which is likely the hardest item she will slice in this unit. Again the KFP 1333 handled the task with ease. She loves the fact that it is light and easy to get in and out of the cabinet. She also loves the blade storage box.

Great Food Processor!
I bought this model to replace my old 26 year old Sunbeam Food Processor, which finally succumbed to plastic fatigue. I was looking for a large, heavy duty model as many of the newer ones seemed lightweight in comparison to my old favorite. I got exactly what I asked for. It is well built, has a nice box that holds all the attachments, and is not complicated to use. This is beefy! Even the 'pulse' setting is very powerful - almost too powerful. I like that it has fewer parts to wash, but washing it is still the tricky part. There are places where food gets stuck and they give you a special scraper to reach them. Water seems to stay in the top section after washing it as there is no good way for it to dry out. That's the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5. Anyway, I've used it for slicing many vegetables and also sausages with great results. I've used it effectively for pastry crusts as well. Lastly, I used the included smaller bowl and small blade to make hummus, which resulted in a good texture. I recommend this product!

Amazing product
It's well-made with thick plastic. And it came with an extra dicing kit which really surprised me. The first machine had a defective motor so I asked for a replacement. The customer service was excellent, and I got my replaced machine three days after they received the return. So far it's fantastic and versatile. It can shred, slice, chop, dice and knead doughs in seconds, which meet all my demands. It's also very quiet without making high-pitched noise. Yesterday I used it to slice lotus root which I love to eat and hate to slice. I also made a Chinese ramen dough which turned out to be bouncy and delicious noodles. Today I make butternut squash slices and dozens of pork-mushroom meatballs out of this product. The meatballs are bouncy! I definitely love this machine.

Kitchen Aid 13 - cup Food Processor
This is a great kitchen tool, its big enough to do any job and the motor is quite. It has a large bowel large enough to take on any job. Its just right for pie dough and has a blade designed for that job. There is also a small bowel for smaller jobs. It comes with enough attachments to do most any chore and the adjustable slicer is wonderful. It assembles with ease and clean up is easy.On the downside, it is larger than my old processor and I had to make room for it. The on-off buttons are hard to operate, they seem to be receded and are difficult to push.

its good, but not perfect
well i've had the kitchenaid 13 cup food processor for about a month now...and i like it...but it was disappointing not to be able to fall in love with it(believe me, i tried!:( so i thought i'd write this review and list all the pros and cons. i know of course that different things appeal to different people. i'll try to be as comprehensive as i can be(without being boring)... Good things: 1) it looks beautiful...its an amazing feeling to take it our of the carton and put it together...and sits pretty on the counter:P 2)the ultra tight seal is definitely tight...no leaks at all! 3)the case that comes with it for the attachments is a dream come true!very very useful 4)i can't say its very very quiet but the sound level is certainly something that i would call better than expected 5)the lock and unlock mechanism are very easy...you can do it with one hand 6)the bowl itself is easy to wash, no nooks and crannies for the food to get stuck in 7)i love being able to slice bigger stuff. that is definitely something you won't find in others bad things: 1)the lid is very very hard to handle...its big, and has parts falling out of it all over the place.you have to be extremely careful when washing it-you turn it over slightly and a huge part slides right out and you might end up breaking it! 2)the smaller bowel is not as useful as it sounds because when you use it, everything leaks into the bigger bowl and you have to wash both anyway.i've really tried it many times in hope that it might've been a coincidence.but no.it does leak every time!its the saddest part really:( 3)its a good thing that the blade gets locked into place and doesn't come off when you take the bowl off of the base...however when you DO want to take it off, its very hard and dangerous.there is no proper way of doing it(or at least its not listed)and i actually cut my finger once while struggling to take it out. now i am always scared to do it! 4)there is no significant difference between the thickness of the slices when cut. maybe a difference in the thinnest and the thickest, but seriously, the rest of the thicknesses just add to the glamour, nothing else 5)the base itself is not too big, it doesn't take a lot of space. however you do need to have a lot of space while working with it because if you put it in a small space, you'd do the chopping, but then you'd take off the lid and wouldn't know where to put it...when you eventually do, you'd take out the disk and wouldn't know where to put that!and believe me, they are big parts!its frustrating!but maybe that's something that happens with them all! 6)the food you slice gets stuck in the slicing disk and in the corners of the lid. you have to put it some extra effort to wash it out, it does come out so its not a huge downside, but i wish a simple rinse would do it and i wouldn't have to pick all the pieces of food out one by one. 7)don'e even think about crushing ice in it.you try and its like an earthquake just hit you!and you're sure the blades and the bowl would break before the ice does! the final verdict...well i'll say that i'm not unhappy with it...i'm sure none of them out there is perfect and all food processors are bound to have one downside or another...but at least this one is handsome:P it does all the basic work...so if there isn't anything in the list above that you absolutely can't live with, i suggest that you buy it for the looks...:D

I do not recommend this product...
First at all, forgive me if I made any mistake in this writing, I am still learning english... This food processor has a complicated safety system. This system starts with a long and slim plastic rod located in the back of food pusher, the plastic rod, pushes a spring located in the work bowl cover, the spring lifts a lever, the lever takes out a pin, this pin pushes another pin with another spring located inside the handgrip, this last pin finally unlocks the safety system located on the top of the base. There are too many breakables pieces in this system, if one of them break down, your KitchenAid food processor will not start, unless, you replace the broken-down part. I bought my KitchenAid food processor two month ago, I received it about a month ago, I used it three times with some difficulty and then did not work anymore. The pin in the cover is not long enough to push the other pin inside the handgrip, so the system can not be unlock, therefore, the food processor does not start. I have not the possibilIty to replace the broken-down part by the waranty, because I cant register the product in my country, Venezuela. Acording with the manual you can only register the product in, USA, Canada and Puerto Rico. Where can I go to claim for any fail in the product? NOWHERE I have to keep my defective product, or I have to find the way to modify the system in order to get it works, or do something extreme like eliminate the lock system, and this would be dangerous for me... can you imagine the situation? Definitely, the KitchenAid KFP1333CU 13-Cup Food Processor does not satisfy my expectations. I thought it was a high quality product but, in my opinion, it does not. So I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT, AT ALL.

Love it. Amazon best price by far.
Love it. Wifey says it's so much nicer than her old Kitchen Aid. Be careful where you buy this; price varies as much as $100. Bed bath and Beyond was $60 more (inc. 20% coupon) for a smaller unit. Amazon was, by far, the best price. Even Kitchen Aid direct was $40 more. And yes I was comparing exact models and features. Got it in two days. Some people say Amazon Prime is not worth it. I don't know about other folks but we love it. I don't care what we are looking for, it seems like we always get it cheaper at Amazon and when you add free shipping (and returns) it doesn't take long to make up the Prime fee. Plus I get all kinds of free music downloads and free kindle books. We had a fire and had to replace EVERYTHING! By the way, get a fire extinguisher and know how to use it!! I may sound like a commercial for Amazon but we had to replace a whole household and I'm a retired cheapskate. I'm the idiot at the grocery store who will wait for the Mgr. if my coupon doesn't ring up correctly.

KitchenAid 13-cup Processor
I would really give this product a 4.75 but it's not an option. Our other Cuisinart Food Processor had a broken piece then eventually cracked. Never was really happy with it. We love to puree soups (hate lumps in my soup) and wanted the biggest food processor possible. My husband and I did a lot of searching for reviews and ratings and decided on this one. As I'm really not a 'kitchen tool techy', I prefer old way of doing things and it usually means less parts to clean, I havce to say I love this product. Very easy to clean and I'm not shy about trying the different blades and it really reduces time spent preparing meals. We still can't put a whole potful of soup into it but it's a great appliance. And although it's so hunky looking it is very light which makes it really easy to put in and out of the bottom drawer in our kitchen. My only negative here is the storage box, if you love puzzles then it's no real fuss but putting the parts back into the storage container can be tricky which is why I would give it less than a full 5.0 rating.

Meh!
After my old KA food processor bowl broke (4 years old) I decided to upgrade my food processor rather than replace the part. Pros: Large, and with the seal around the bowl and locking blades it doesn't leak like my old one did Cons: Too many parts - the lid alone has 4 different pieces which often end up on the floor when it forget and take the lid off. The blade starts slowly and speeds up which doesn't help to process things very well. My old processor could turn shredded coconut into coconut butter in a matter of a couple of minutes. This new one needs much longer, more bowl scrapping and I usually have to add a little melted coconut oil to get the liquifying process started. UPDATE - I went through 2 different machines, the first ordered through Amazon, and the blade failed. I returned it via KitchenAid and they sent me a new one. The exact same thing failed AGAIN. This time I just wanted my money back. Finally in June 2013 KA sent me a refund cheque. I see other reviewers have had issues with the blade as well. Both times it failed I was processing blanched, very thinly sliced almonds - something this machine should have been able to handle easily. I have since bought a Kitchen Ninja that works extremely well as a food processor (no slicing though) and blender. For less money, it has more power and has held up far beyond what this processor did.

Powerful motor, poor design.
It's powerful but poorly designed, there is a lip around the edge where food gets stuck which is frustrating. It's nice that it has a small inner bowl, but it would be nicer if I could use the small bowl without getting the big bowl dirty and having to wash both. I feel like perhaps this could benefit from having more speed functions as even on low anything that I put in to chop is pulverized completely almost turning it into soup, when I just want it chopped. Finally a double blade, vs, one that just sits on the bottom would be more effective as I can only half fill the bowl as it won't circulate and chop all the food properly.

Good machine, until the blade failed
This was a great machine, good capacity, the seals were excellent, plenty of power. But then the main blade failed after about a year of occasional use. (I'd say we use it about once a week.) The blade just doesn't turn when there is anything in bowl. So far as I can tell, the blade attachment must be made of two parts, an internal part that fits on the spindle and an external part that holds the blade, and the fit between the two parts has become loose. If there is no load, the blade turns, but as soon as you put anything in the bowl, the blade only turns very slowly, or not at all, even when the spindle is turning. In any event, the bottom line is it just doesn't work, and now we can only use the small bowl. If I could buy a replacement blade I wouldn't be too upset, but so far I haven't been able to find anywhere that sells the blade that will ship to Canada. I emailed KitchenAid to ask about where to get replacement parts, but they didn't respond. Update: We found where to get the blade, and its under $30 (including shipping) - but it's back ordered. If they've run out of stock, it makes me think I'm not the only one who has had the blade fail.
