Amazing performance from a tiny, rugged package
When I saw the announcement from Muzen about this little bluetooth speaker I was very excited. I was instantly drawn to the design. As a designer/engineer/fabricator, I knew that this was something I had to own. I am a returning Muzen customer because I already own one of their OTR metal speakers. From my experience with the OTR, I expected the Wild Mini to be a high quality product, and it did not disappoint. I have been using the speaker frequently for over a month now. The design still delights me every time I look at it. It looks like a piece of military surplus equipment. It would look equally at home in a vintage jeep or the cockpit of a jet. Muzen deliberately featured exposed screws and hardware in a thoughtful manner that accentuates the rugged look. The large metal volume knob has a knurled texture and a satisfying click as you rotate it. This knob is secured on the top of the speaker with a small “bracket” and some more exposed screws. On my gray colored version, all these visible screws have a shiny gunmetal sort of finish that contrasts the matte gray color of the speaker. Adjacent to the volume knob is a power indicator light that can also act as a flashlight. Under normal use, though, the light pulses softly with a warm glow. The charging port is under a hinged cover that has a rubber seal to keep dust and moisture out. The other controls are a combined skip-track/pause button and the main power switch, which is a spring-loaded toggle that can also be pressed to activate the flashlight. When the Wild Mini is establishing a connection with your device it emits a beeping “signal” sort of sound that evokes the retro-military vibe in a whimsical way. Based on my experience with the OTR, I expected the speaker to be made from quality materials. Indeed Muzen demonstrates that using quality materials matters. The Wild Mini is almost entirely metal, and, as a result, has a heft and quality feel. All of these design choices make you feel connected to the Wild Mini in the same way that you would feel connected to a favorite tool from your toolbox. This brings me to the final aspect of this speaker: the performance. Once again, Muzen has shown that larger than life sound can come in a small package. The sound quality is quite surprising given the diminutive size. I should also point out that the packaging design is among the best you will find. My gray version came in a utilitarian-looking plastic case that latches closed. This is another demonstration of the thought and care they put into all aspects of their product. Overall, I am very pleased with the Wild Mini. I really appreciate having a small, rugged speaker that is just as enjoyable to admire as it is to play music on.

The wild mini’s sound quality it just WILD!!
This is not my first experience with a Muzen product. As a matter of fact it is my third! The first one that I purchased was the Muzen OTR rosewood small portable outdoor speaker. I purchased that several years ago and truly loved what I heard. The presentation of the leather carrying case and all of the added accessories it came with really impressed me because of all the meticulous attention to detail. So when I saw that a new product was coming out like the wild mini, I was really excited! I had read about all of its features and was just thrilled with what it promised. The rugged construction , the look of a tiny walkie talkie that might have been used in the Vietnam war, the little but very bright light, the fact that it was waterproof and even the stamp of 1964, which just happens to be the year I was born! I HAD TO HAVE IT!! When I received it I was impressed with the how heavy duty it’s case was and it had a good solid weight to it, but not too heavy. When I turned it on I was madly in love with it! First of all the aesthetics and size of the speaker were really true to its description “mini”. It was very solid, the flashlight was very bright and most importantly the sound were all amazing!! When I listen to it I still scratch my head as to how so much big sound can come from this little tiny box. I love this speaker so much that I ended up buying another one for my nephew for his birthday. When he received it he said that he chuckled because he couldn’t believe what I was telling him about the big sound that came from this little tiny speaker until he turned it on, then he was truly blown away! He still calls me often just to play it over the phone while laughing in the background. He still is in disbelief, but loving every single minute of it. So far every Muzen product that I have purchased has gone above and beyond my expectations. My favorite so far is the wild mini. It’s just absolutely perfect and I totally dig it!! I have even downloaded an app that allows me to use the speaker as a megaphone because I do many live speeches and the sound carries a very long, long way. All I can say is that if anyone reading this is in the market for a small Bluetooth speaker with a big sound, yeah there is a lot of competition out there, but for the price this speaker really takes the cake. I’ve even considered buying more for gifts for the holidays. I get very excited and enthusiastic when I purchase something and it far exceeds my expectations and cost is far less than I would expect to pay for such a giant sound.

Wild Mini Bluetooth Speaker - Unboxing, Looks, Ruggedness, Range & Connectivity, Battery, Sound
Unboxing – Two protective cardboard boxes enclose the snap open fitted, padded, protective case. You can be sure this will arrive with no shipping damage whatsoever. Under the cardboard surrounding the speaker is a stand USB to USB mini charging cable. Looks – It feels heavier than it looks, Muzen packed a lot of stuff in there. This Mini Portable stands up or lays on its back on rubber feet – a nice touch. It has an old world look, but there is a lot of current technology packed inside. The controls are very easy to operate with one hand. Ruggedness – I really liked the right-side charging port cover looks waterproof. Probably would survive a small fall without any damage. It feels very solid in my hand. Range & Connectivity – I have a 2 story 2400 square foot home. I was unable to get out of range, even in the garage. It goes thru multiple walls with ease. My testing shows a bit more than the 30+ foot claimed. Pairing is a snap. Just turn Bluetooth on the Wild Mini then enable Bluetooth on the receiving device. Some devices require that you select “scan” then the Wild Mini appears, click on it and the link is made. Battery Life – I let it run at “near me” volume for ten hours, was going strong, but it was bedtime. The charging port glows red while charging and turns blue when completed; I just let it charge overnight and am greeted with a nice blue glow at the port. I used the built in flashlight for about half an hour, handy little extra feature. Sound Quality – I saved the best for last – it’s simply amazing. Both for voices and music, it sounds like a MUCH bigger speaker – and it can get very LOUD with virtually no distortion – fantastic engineering. Final Opinion – I have 2 other similar devices; they cost less and perform to their price point. This is the device you should get if you insist on Build Quality, Functionality, and truly superb sound Quality.

Good but not great
So I’ve been thinking about buying the speaker for about one year now. I’ve had it in my cart for a long time and finally it went on sale for about $70 and I pulled the trigger. Though I am very happy with it, and will not return it, I expected more. I guess I am too used to the great sound coming from small JBL speakers. While this speaker is loud enough, it is nowhere near as loud as a JBL speaker nor is the sound as clear. It starts to loose bass on the 95% volume mark. One thing I would definitely change, is the battery life. It says it last eight hours, emphasis on the “up to” 8 hours, because in my experience, it only last about six hours. All in all, I am happy with my purchase and have in fact, recommended this to others, but it is not perfect. For this price range, there are better speakers out there. To be fair, this is a very handsome speaker and it works just fine. You’ll be content with it, but you won’t be amazed, at least I wasn’t.

The Most Amazing Bluetooth Speaker Available
I have purchased no fewer than a dozen Bluetooth speakers over the past 5 years, and I can honestly say that this Muzen Wild Mini is hands-down the best of them all. This little speaker is made of solid metal that has great structural integrity and heft. In other words, it feels substantial when you hold it. Everything about this speaker screams quality; the buttons, the knob, and the case. The little rubber feet are a nice touch. We don't buy Bluetooth speakers for their looks, though, do we? No, we purchase them primarily for their sound quality, and that's where this amazing little Bluetooth speaker really shines. For it's size, it has incredible volume and sound quality. Does it have heavy bass? Bigger speakers may have more, but none in this size/class do. The battery life is very good. I used the Wild Mini on a few camping trips, and it lasted many, many hours through the night. It charges fast and easily and comes with a USB cable. There is a flashlight on the Wild Mini which is nice, and while I thought it was a gimick, I actually have used it a few times in the night at the campsite. When playing music, the light pulsates which is a neat feature. The knob is milled and very nice. The clicks are satisfying, and it makes it very easy to change volume with one hand. There is a button on the front that also makes it easy to select the next song, or go back to the beginning of the song you're listening to. The lanyard loop is a nice touch, and my first Wild Mini (because I have two of them!) has one. I bought a total of three of these; one as a Christmas gift for my son, and the others for me. I initially purchased the gray colored one, but when the green Wild Mini was released, I had to have it to match my 4Runner. Since buying the Wild Minis, I have stopped using all other Bluetooth speakers as they don't sound as good, aren't as solid, and don't last as long. What I gave up in pure bass is eclipsed by all the other positives of this amazing Bluetooth speaker. Do I recommend it? Yes. Is it worth the price? Absolutely. You definitely get what you pay for, and you will not be let down.

Rugged, cool looking, sounds amazing for its size!
Just like a lot of other reviewers, I am seriously impressed by this little (it really little!) Bluetooth speaker. Pros: It’s built tough! I accidentally flung it off of a 4 foot tall surface on to a tile floor and it didn’t harm it. The sound quality is amazing. I have worked semi-professionally as a sound engineer and own 4 other Bluetooth speakers. No, this speaker doesn’t sound as good as my others, but it’s 1/4 the size of the smallest of ny other speakers. So when I say it sounds amazing I’m saying it sounds amazing for it’s size. Like most everyone else I love the feel of the volume knob. All my other speakers have buttons that are difficult to see and operate. Out I all my speakers the Muzen operates the easiest. It has a built in flash light with 3 settings. In my opinion any rechargeable portable gadget should have a built in light of some kind. It was super easy to pair and it has a toggle knob to skip tracks or go back, and if you press the knob it pauses the music. While the unit is on the flashlight slowly glows on and off letting you know that even if there isn’t sound coming from it, it is in. The charging port glows red while it’s charging, and green when fully charged. When the unit is turned on it makes 2 sets of noises both of which sound like Morse Code beeps. The first set is to let you know it’s on, the second set of beeps let’s you know that it has paired to your device. The beeps are very “military” sounding circa world war 1 and 2 which matches the military aesthetic of the speaker. More: I use my Muzen in the shower dancing from my shampoo caddy, or on the bathroom sink. The sound fills up my bathroom. When working all around the inside or outside of my house I hang the speaker from my belt loop. That way I have my music with me without having to blast music from my karger bt sorsjets or my stereo. It fits in any pocket. It looks really cool. I intend to take thus dieakwt camping, hiking, biking, and use it ad my job-site speaker (I’m a tradesperson)

Sounds great, looks great, battery life just ok
Update: 18 months of use and the battery life has degraded. It's a small battery to start with and there's no charge level indicator. After reading all the hype I bought one. The sound is good for a speaker this size, the whole thing fits easily in the palm of a hand. It's better than the speaker in my Pixel phone, louder too. The controls are nice, I wish they were all metal like the volume control - which is excellent - very satisfying. The instructions are tiny, but you can figure it out easily. Charges with microUSB (thankfully) - as untrendy as it might be to say that - I have dozens of wires for microUSB all over the house. And did I mention the very satisfying volume control. Is it worth around $100 - for sure, it's cute and sounds great. I would prefer it come in a less wasteful box. Update 6 months later: still love it. Use it every day. I'm the most cynical buyer so I was skeptical that it would sound great but it does. Well made, great design (I have the green but will also get the grey) proper metal construction and all the functions you could ask for and nothing else. If anyone is interested the Morse code when it starts is XOV. Suggestions to Muzen: - add a spring clip to the back - knurl the rocker switch - add battery level indicator - put a bigger battery (currently 800mah) - make an upgraded unit that if I buy two they will couple and provide stereo

Old Version > New Version
Received as a present and lost after several Years of use. Purchased a second Muzen Portable speaker and found a notable difference in its performance. The sound quality is about the same but the Bluetooth capabilities are worse compared to the original. In addition the slightest movement or shake causes the speaker to disconnect or pause the music. Disappointed in what used to be a quality product.

9.5/10
the product arived in pristine condition. it was field tested in heavy rain for 2 days with one single incident when it just stopped the connection while wet(i suppose this is a safety feature).generaly pleased with the sturdyness of your creation.the audio quality i will say 8/10 because it s a bit lacking in the low end frequencies but not that big of a problem considering the compact nature of the product(you cant have both). nice stuff to have, handy.

Great Sound on solid device.
Small but really solid device. Great sound, but not great in a very large room with lots of people. But awesome for a smaller room with 1-5 people.

Great sound from such a small speaker
The Bass sound and volume from such a small speaker is impressive. This speaker is very well constructed and thought out regarding the controls. The Bluetooth pairs with my oldest mp3 Apple players which are over 10 years old and functions perfectly including changing songs directly from the speaker. This unit is heavy and feels like military hardware. It will take all the abuse you can throw at it. I purchased the grey color speaker which is entirely different from the color shown on Amazon. Instead of the light gray in the picture, it is a dark grey which I greatly prefer. Highly recommend.
