Hunter Universal Ceiling Fan Wall Control Switch, White

This is just what I wanted, both aesthetically and functionally!! Previously we had a normal light switch for the fan with the black Hunter handheld remote mounted next to it. The set up caused a lot of problems because turning off the switch would disconnect our smart fan and looking at the black remote wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing option. Installing this and pairing it with our fan was easy. We didn’t use the included Hunter faceplate because we wanted it to share a regular duplex decor face plate with a Lutron Pico remote. The color is a slightly different shade than the standard white face plates sold, but not enough to make me do anything about it. Note: This is a wall mounted remote. Hunter explains on their site that the batteries are needed to power the remote which controls the light dimmer and fan speeds. The wall power only controls power to the unit as a whole.

Works well

Installation was simple, and the in-wall functionality is ideal for this buyer. Yes, enabling easier battery change or selling a 120V to low-voltage adapter would have been clever. However, this buyer rarely touches the remote in the home office. The fan stays on constantly, and the light is rarely activated. If light is needed, the handheld remote is used at the desk.

Works as advertised and gives a full wall switch control. For the complaints about battery - it was blatantly disclosed in the listing so no surprise. 4 stars simply because button feed back is weak for all but the on/off switch.

Looks nice and clean. Other remotes have a pocket to attach to the wall to hold a remote. This remote/switch fit into existing gang box and wiring. Was easy to pair/remote with (Hunter) ceiling fan/light. Although, I will admit: I don't understand that it's hard wired and it still needs batteries???? So when the batteries die, turn off the breaker switch and replace the batteries.

I am so incredibly disappointed with this. I love the way it looks and I love the way it works. I opted to only use the battery operatedWi-Fi function because I already have a separate master switch that cuts the power to the light and fan. The buttons worked great even when it’s just laying on the bed. It paired easily and everything works. As soon as I take it to the electrical box the Wi-Fi signal is not strong enough. In fact even if I hold it in front of the box which is no more than 8 feet from the light it just doesn’t send the signal enough to function.

The remote function works well. What is baffling is that it still requires two AAA batteries despite being connected to AC mains. It is also very hard to locate the correct button in the dark because they are all flat. Being said, pairing was very easy and works moderately well. I stuck a bumpon to the light on button so I could feel the right button for the dark room.
