We are slowly automating the watering of our garden which while not huge is too big for WiFi based remote valves to work. I looked at installing remote hard-wired valves but the cost of the multi-core cable alone was going to be horrendous. High end systems multiplexing control onto single cables are also way too expensive. So I needed another solution. These valves use Zigbee (a wireless system a bit like WiFi) and they genuinely do work at up 100m as claimed so long as you site the base unit sensibly, I've put ours at the top of the roof (inside). The hardware us well made, they are easy to set up using the app and they seem to work well. The near real-time feedback of water flow is very useful as you can see immediately if something is amiss. The app for programming them works fine although it is not great to use. They have clearly spent the money on the hardware, not the software! Don't get me wrong: everything is there and it does the job, it is just a bit clunky. So more expensive than WiFi valves, and probably overkill for a small garden or just a few pots. But if you have something larger this kit will do the job for £100s of pounds (assuming several valves) rather than the £1000s or even £10,000s it would require for a traditional "central controller plus multi-core cable to remote valves" solution.

A few months back I looked at different water garden controllers and while there are some products that have additional features they also cost twice the price, so the linktap ticked all my boxes. So much so that I have bought a second unit as I am laying a new lawn and wanted to control a couple of oscillating sprinklers as I am not prepared to manually water the lawn several times a day until the seeds starts to grow. The user interface takes a bit of time to find your way round the menu, I have seen better but functionally does all I want. The wether feature is a bit of a hit or miss as it uses Apple weather data and this is not always accurate but I don’t think there is much time can do about that. It seems that you get a better resultant if you set the rain period to 72 hours as sometimes Apple take time to update the weather report. It would be nice if there was the possibility of connecting a moisture sensor, and better still one of these off the shelf rain / weather sensors. I am aware this is all possible if one had the time to find ways of interfacing third party equipment but this is no simple task.

Just bought my second D1. Quick and easy set-up, up there with Apple and Google products (if not better). Very well made, amazingly rich-featured app and with two killer features: 1) Robust comms link from gateway to controllers. I have the gateway at one end of a long house and the controllers in a greenhouse beyond the far end with a wifi network buzzing in-between but comms are totally robust. 2) The watering schedule durations can be factored by a +-% if the temperature goes over a user-defined max or below a user-defined min. This helps avoid under or over watering from a fixed schedule, especially while away. Can also set to pause watering if rain is forecast for the area. Love the bubbling sound of the watering alerts!

Overall a very good piece of kit but some small gremlins with the software which is being ironed out.

had the single output one for 4 years so was a no brainer to switch to the double when i needed to. its pretty heavy but simple to use. not sure how the flow meter is doing as appears to not always work but that might be how i have the irregation set up

Does. the job really well, with notifications about what is or is not happening e.g. water tap has been switched off by accident etc. Easy to set up, and it just works!

En 2022 compramos un LinkTap G2S tras leer muchas opiniones y comparar características y gracias a su buen resultado, este 2025 hemos incorporado un LinkTap D1 a la familia. Para nosotros, la clave es toda la gestión mediante su app, que facilita el no tener que programar físicamente el dispositivo. Aunque la app no tiene el mejor de los diseños, es funcional y te haces a ella rápido. En 3 años no nos ha dado prácticamente ningún tipo de problema, aunque en invierno para evitar problemas con las heladas, siempre lo desconectamos y guardamos durante unos meses. La duración de las pilas es también muy alta y te permite despreocuparte durante bastante tiempo. Por poner un pero, al tener doble zona de control, el tamaño físico es algo más grande y pesado de lo que nos gustaría y el precio no es económico.

We have used the LinkTap system for several years now and added the 2 outlet version for expansion and it works as expected. No problem with battery life, easily lasts the whole season. I've had units out in the rain and in direct sunlight and none have failed or had problems. All of them communicate with the gateway with no problems. Long range. Love the weather options to up water on hotter days and skip on rainy days. This unit is way more customizable than any other we tried before it. Makes it easy to use for seeding with several short cycles in a day and on daily or every other day schedules.

Un des meilleurs dispositifs d'arrosage connecté que je connaisse. Je l'ai expérimenté il y a 3 ans (en remplacement d'un système Hozelock pitoyable) et mes modules fonctionnent toujours, consomment peu de piles, sont particulièrement efficaces et tiennent compte de la météo avec précision. Le seul bémol : un peu cher mais au moins ça fonctionne et les fonctionnalités sont nombreuses. Je rajoute régulièrement des modules tellement l'appairage est simple. On peut aussi l'intégrer à Home Assistant pour disposer d'une solution domotique intégrée.

Questo timer per l'irrigazione è semplicemente fantastico. Ne ho comperati due per avere linee di irrigazione separate nel mio balcone. Piccolo, compatto, a batteria che funziona per anni, il collegamento wi fi funziona benissimo, la programmazione è molto intuitiva, ti manda messaggi in caso di qualche problema (collegamento wi fi mancante, batteria scarica). Ne avevo provato altri prima ma questo è quello definitivo.
