Review: Textured Side for Company. - I ordered these (4) silicone oval placemats to protect my oval tablecloth from spills, drops and stains. They are as pictured as far as size, shape, color and texture. They are a bit lighter weight than I expected. I was expecting thicker like silpat mats. Crumbs fell off when I tried to carry the mats to the sink, and herbs, spices and spills actually tend to stick and are a bit challenging to clean because the mats are so thin and flexible. I turn the textured side down (unless we have company) because the smooth side is easier to clean. The textured side looks nice. I have washed them several times already and they are more durable than I expected. I think they are a reasonable value for the money. We paid about $20 for a set of four. I will likely get another set to add more places at the table. Review: Kid proof, very easy to clean! - I love these placemats! I was looking for something that would protect my table from heat, but not be a pain to clean. These did not disappoint! I can easily wipe away spills, and when I feel like they need a deeper cleaning, I just take them over to the sink and scrub them with a little dish soap. Some of the other reviews said that the mats don't lay flat, but I haven't had that problem. I got the round ones in blue.
