K1 Filtering Material. Evolution Aqua

After trawling the internet to find filters for my newly constructed pond I found this product. I watched a few videos of ponds using this media in their filter system and decided to bite the bullet and by 25lts of Kaldness K1 media. It was delivered in good time and on inspection was comprised of round white plastic pieces around 6mm diameter. Within its construct are many fissures which give it a large surface area where all the beneficial bacteria can adhere. I introduced the media to my filter system and it set to work. After a two week period the Kaldness media started to turn brown and I notice a lot of suspended detritus in the water surrounding the media within the filter housing. I drained the water and gave the media a light wash down trying to retain the brown staining as this was the bacteria that was needed. After restarting the pump within two days the pond was dramatically clearer. I have cleaned the filter once more since in the manner described above and my pond now is crystal clear. This product is excellent and I can see from its construct that it will not degrade and be in service for many years. I am very glad I invested in this product I can honestly say that I will not or have to use any other type of media. Excellent buy.

There are two types of K1 media be sure when ordering you know what you want as I received K1 micro not K1. I needed the micro anyway but be sure you are going to get what you want

Expensive for bits of plastic Takes 6 weeks to mature Seems to work though
