Does this device work with mobile phones via bluetooth like the non-uc versions? Is the difference between the UC versions the addition of the dongle?

It works fine with a mobile phone. I use mine as a normal bluetooth for my phone and with the dongle with my MacBook.

I have Lenovo X390 company laptop with no bluetooth. will this work?

On its own, no. But that little USB thing in the pictures is a Bluetooth adapter. Simply plug that in to your laptop and you should be fine. Can't comment on your company's restrictions, but o can plug it into my company laptop and use the headset all the time for video calls over Skype and Microsoft Teams.

I am a tour guide and wondered if this could be plugged into a minibus usb and heard through the speakers. Much like hearing your iPod through usb

That'll depend more upon the hardware and software of the minibus. If it has Bluetooth then that may work. I believe the USB is more for usage in applications like Teams, Zoom or Skype where the mute button and auto answer functions need to interact with software.

Do you have to re-pair frequently on windows 10. my current 2 devices lose the mike function following a reboot of the pc

This has not been a problem for me. I use the USB bluetooth dongle rather than going to the bluetooth of the laptop. I don't know if that matters.
