Can you use this to view whole bugs? Or does it just magnifie So you only see really enlarged sections of the bug?

Hi, I believe you will only see a enlarged section of the bug. For a whole bug maybe one of our bug viewers may be more suitable? Thanks Claire

Hi ! Do you think this is suitable for a 5 years old or is it too advanced? Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

I'd say 5 is slightly too young, but all kids are different! Manufacturer recommend age is 8 but if your prepared to be a bit more "hands on" it might be OK as its a pretty simple microscope. Journal would need reading assistance too...

As it is a gift, I set it up and checked it. I found that whichever magnfication is used there is a spot in the middle of the field of view. Help!

Hi, I can confirm if you refer to steps 8 and 9 of the included instruction booklet on page 7, it will explain clearly how to set the microscope up. Please ensure you have inserted the batteries to work the light and a pre-made slide to test the microscope. If you are still having problems and you believe the product to be faulty, please contact our customer service team on customerservice@learning-resources.co.uk and they will look into the issue further for you! I have just set one up myself and tested following the instruction guide and have had no issues so I hope this helps you get the issue resolved. Many Thanks, Rosie - Learning Resources UK

does this have prepared slides and blank slides for them to make their own?

We thought it would be of good quality , as this model microscope is also sold by the science museum, it is a frustrating toy, especially disappointing for the child who was so excited to receive it. I don't know which model we should have bought but this was a waste of money. We think that you should take advice, perhaps the school science teacher ? Good luck !
