Raspberry Pi For Dummies, 3rd Edition

The authors did a fantastic job introducing the Raspberry Pi platform and how to get started. The book covers all the initial setup and what to expect throughout the process. The book covers programming using both Scratch and Python, and does a really good job with clear and concise code samples. I would be hard pressed to think of anything a fledgling maker would want to cover that isn't in this book, its incredibly thorough. I reviewed most of the python code examples contained in this book, I was unable to find any faults with the example code. The introduction to Scratch was my first look at the platform, and was very informative! I think most kids will be able to understand the concepts easily, and should be able to adapt and learn from the examples given.

Book is made of thin paper, which I don’t prefer. Print is small. The book is easy to read and comprehend what’s written, regardless of its small print. All of the pictures are easy to read, as are the other illustrations. This information is therefore much more usable compared to other RPi books.

This books is very good, but does not specify that when copying the NOOBS install files to your SD card do NOT copy any folders, just all the files contained in the folders. Otherwise, the install will fail. This can corrupt an sd card and in some cases render it unusable.

Exactly as described, there is info, projects, samples, and it is a good all-round reference. We are quite familiar with using the Raspberry Pi and didn't need an introduction but I got this anyway for the straightforward info as it goes farther than just introducing the unit.

This book is easy-to-read and covers all the basics! Very well-written!

I'm not sure what I was looking for but this didn't help much. Hate to see about word for word what's on the Pi website.

Perfect companion book for learning about the Raspberry Pi. Very easy to read and follow.

Sans problème

Only half way through...... it's not just reading but practical exercises that take more time. Typical of the "dummies" franchise, well written and easy to understand..... well done.

Non ho ancora terminato il 'corso', sono solo a circa metà, ma finora posso dire che l'acquisto non mi ha deluso: dopo un'introduzione veramente per 'dummies', si sviluppa ad un livello facilmente comprensibile da chiunque abbia una normale dimestichezza quotidiana con la materia IT e - va senza dirlo - voglia di imegnarsi e imparare.
