Great sequel to book 1, but book 1 is still the best!!
If you have previously purchased Joe's first book I doubt you will need to read a review to help you in deciding to buy his second book. And that is all anyone new to Joe's plan needs to know! The Shape Plan continues on from where The Shift plan left off. More great recipes to help you towards a healthier lifestyle. It's hard to review this book without talking about Joe's complete approach to making you fitter, athough if you aren't following his exercise regimes then so long as you adopt the food approach in the same manner towards your own workout programme as if it were his, then I can't see why this won't help you. Essentially, as in the first book, this is split into carb and no-carb recipes. Carb meals should be eaten after a workout and no carb meals at all other times. The menus are well constructed, VERY easy to follow, very quick to prepare and very tasty. There are additional workouts at the back of the book, but I follow Joe's workouts that he posts on his youtube channel so have never tried any of the book workouts. If I had to make a choice between this book and the first however, I would have to choose the first. Maybe this is just because I have been using the first book longer so and more familiar with those recipes, its just when deciding on recipes for the week ahead, most are taken from book one. This really doesn't take away from book two, its just our preference. My only real complaint about book two is the call for expensive ingredients in some recipes and I think this is another reason why I go back to book 1 more often. There are tuna steak and sea bass recipes in book 2 which at the moment prices us out of trying those dishes, but that's just us. I would still highly recommend this book to anyone considering it.

This book is changing my life!
I love this book! It arrived quickly by post and in excellent condition. It does exactly what it promises: well balanced, nutritional meals that are delicious and really do take only 15 minutes to prepare! I have always hated cooking as well as being hopeless at it and suddenly, with this book I can cook! My teenage kids are loving the meals too, so much so that they have started taking an interest in cooking themselves. What's not to love! The recipes couldn't be simpler, they use basic store cupboard ingredients that don't cost a fortune and they taste great as well as healthy. There is also a lot of well explained nutritional information and a guide to exercise and working out which helps you to really understand the philosophy behind Joe Wicks amazing health and fitness plans. This book really does deliver and if you combine it with Joe's HIIT workouts (on social media) I guarantee you will see your body changing shape in no time. It really does work: leaner, fitter, stronger and healthier. It's not a diet, it's a way of life.

Bish Bash Bosh Brilliant. Buy it for your home leaving boys and girls!
More great recipes, divided by Carb load and carb light. A bit over styled/stylised perhaps but I suspect Joe is a bit of a Marmite character - you either love him or find him irritating. I can appreciate all aspects! And, what a fantastic tool for young men not previously keen on cooking or thinking about looking after themselves. I imagine that works for young ladies too. Almost all of the recipes are pretty well Bish Bash Bosh quick and simple. The fact that there are clearly some favourite well used ingredients is a plus - not too many bits of this and that to use up. Everything is readily available even for those of us living in the back of beyond. Great. What more can I say. My daily go to for quick nutritious meals. I know some think portions are huge and are hoping for calorie and nutrition info, but that would be superfluous. It does mean though that uses need to think about carb volumes if they re not working out being reduced. And if you don't want that uch food, reduce it a bit. But keep the carb/protein/fat balance the same.

Yum
After my other half showed me some of Joe's instagram videos and pics of his food I was instantly intrigued, I pre ordered this and bought his first one for the other half. I have made about 5 meals and shakes and the my are great, quick and easy to make and taste amazing. Not sure about the 1 star review complaining about the food being bland because there isn't any bland meals in there. Would really recommend this book as a guide to a healthier diet. Don't just follow the book, he says that you know your own body so if it's not enough or too much change the quantity. Can't wait for book 3

Life-Changing
I am in love with the food in this book. I purchased both this and the first book (the shift plan) to brave losing my post baby Mum-Tum. I was fed up of crash dieting, as whatever gains I seemed to make would be so easily undone by one night off the bandwagon. I was fed up of diets that required you to calorie count all day, as with a family to look after I just didn't have the time to waste deliberating over numbers. These recipes are so simple and (on the whole) quick that it is possible to lose weight and get leaner, even with a busy home and work life. I know you're not meant to be on the sad step (scales), but after 3 weeks I have lost 9lb and so many people have mentioned I look less full in the face. My partner is also on the same plan as me and he has lost 7lb. The exercises are also intense but manageable, meaning I can fit in an HIIT session during baby nap times. Just be warned; you'll have so much more washing up to do if you stick to this as a weight loss plan (3 meals a day!), and stocking up the cupboards with whole foods is costly (although as time has gone on we've needed fewer stock ingredients, bringing the price down a little). I've attached some photos of the recipes I've been making across the Shift And Shape Books. All in all, I'm feeling full, healthier, and a little bit fitter, and am super surprised at how much this book has already changed my eating habits.

Something Different : What do you have to lose?
Fab book! I've bought both his two books and am following the plan (4 days in so far). I'm loving the recipes! I'm a pescatarian (I eat fish but no meat) but find there are plenty of recipes I can enjoy and as Joe advises himself, if you're vegetarian, you can easily substitute the meat for Quorn, Tofu, Soya etc. which works for me :) I love his portion sizes. Most books related to diets or healthy living have tiddly little servings and I end up eating two portions. I love Joe for this! <3 He does say if you feel you need more, then cook more, if you need less, cook less. There's lots of flexibility in this plan. The majority of his books cover recipes. They are all fab and take no time at all to prepare and cook; this is ideal for me after a long day at work. I've so far tried 3 of his recipes and I've loved them all. Joe doesn't believe in calorie-counting and isn't a fan of the bathroom scales - which is why this plan is like a breath of fresh air. The exercises are tough so don't think this is an easy option, however, promised results are excellent - it's too early days for me yet to either confirm or deny this promise! I plan to do both the HIIT and strength exercises at the suggested 4 times a week.

Lean in 15 - another great book!
I have previously bought the Red version of the Lean in 15 books and fancies adding a few more recipes to my repertoire. My partner and I are on a health kick (as is everyone in January it seems!) and Joe's recipes are so helpful for providing a bit of quick dinner inspiration on these dreary January evenings. The recipes are great, the portions are big, and I mean BIG. My partner lifts weights and cycles a lot so he can eat like a horse and even he struggles with the portion sizes. I find that I have to cut down the protein by about 25% because otherwise it's just way too much food and it can also get quite expensive. I have to mention that we are not following the Lean in 15 program, I am quite a good cook so I just use this more as a recipe book. But I still try to follow the general Lean in 15 principles in terms of eating carb heavy meals when exercising and high protein meals when not doing as much activity. I would not hesitate to order the last book once I have familiarised myself with this one. Joe Wicks is a miracle worker with his Lean in 15 program - the transformation pics on Instagram are incredible! And I think it's really fantastic that the health industry is moving away from promoting very low calorie, low fat diets into something a lot more healthy and sustainable. Wish us luck on our get-fit journeys!

Tasty Recipes But Unrealistic Exercise Regime For The Older Generation
The book has some very nice dishes but beware if you are vegetarian; there seems to be only a couple of smoothie recipes and one other main meal which are meat free. The majority of the recipes are for one person, so if you are in a family/couple it's a bit of a faff to have to double/triple the portions. He seems to be an advocate of wacking everything under the grill on 'high' not great if your grill is like mine and tends to smoke a lot at that level (I tended to put things in the oven instead). Many of the portion sizes seem very large (100g of oats for one person for breakfast?!) I think he is cooking from the perspective of a young male, so I had to tweak a lot of the recipes to reduce portion sizes. The introduction does say that if you fail to lose weight after a month to reduce the portion sizes for your particular needs. The exercises...... I like to think that I'm moderately fit for a mid forties woman; have done Davina, some gentle jogging, do the workouts from darebee.com and mow the grass and run around after two kids. Many of the exercise shown are with barbells, wonder how many women (or men) have those? and no core exercises are shown which was disappointing, so found myself tagging sit ups onto the end of a workout. However, the suggested 4x a week workout proved too much for me and I suffered persistent insomnia three days after my regime started. Research suggested this was due to over training and I should have started gradually or to cut back to no more than 2-3 times a week. I will continue to dip in and out of the recipes (the red lentil chicken curry was amazing) and continue with the reduced carb principles on days that I am less active, but from my point of view it looks like I'll be dusting off the Davina DVD again!

Wonderful recipes. It's difficult to change the recipes to US measurements but other than that, I can't complain. I sure hope it will eventually come that way, because I will buy it again.
