Easy to follow, is a good refresher tool for someone who hadn't made spreadsheets in a long time, would be very useful for those using Excel for the first time

This book was actually purchased for a friend who was applying for a managers role at a call centre and needed a lot of help with doing excel spreadsheets. Instead of me losing my hair by sitting and talking him through everything I purchased this book and told him to read it over the weekend. He did and was througly impressed and more important was able to understand and also manage his spread sheets for his interview.It brings the reader through pretty much everything they need to know initially and in a simple and non verbose manner. Only reason I feel that it doesn't deserve five stars is that it may have been a tad on the short side. Again a matter of personal preference.Prime delivery was superb as usual.Would definitely recommend for complete beginners and even some intermediate invidvuals.

I got this book as I have just started to teach a friend how to use Excel. I used to teach Excel to advanced users and becaus I could do all the things I wanted to do without thinking I got this book to remind me how to do the basic stuff. This book is on my Kindle and goes everywhere with me. I find it so useful.

Not bad at all

Have never touched excel b4 and now need to so having looked at a lot of book reviews went for this one. Excellent. Even by page 24 having read & practiced sum formula and auto fill I feel I have nothing to worry about - the book is so clear I'm very confident already that I will b able to do the rest of the book and more importantly I don't sit down & groan having to fit this learning into busy life - it's quick & not full of waffle!

It's been a few years since I've used excel, I knew I had the knowledge knocking around there somewhere and this book was a great and quick refresher. I am once again confident in the use of excel.

If you can do this in 30 mins you are a genius ! However a good starting book if you want to tackle excel .

Really worthwhile buy no nonsense format quick and easy to follow and understand highly recommend for beginners. Needed in hurry to prepare for interview quick download to my kindle

I recently re-entered into office position. Knowing excel is part of the requirements. I had little knowledge of excel. I am 70 years old. This book was the best. The author took time to give practice assignments and take you through each step. I highly recommend this book.

very useful for basic users

After struggling with several how to do it books on EXCEL, I finally found EXCEL Basics in 30 minutes. What a relief Ian Lamont writes in language that beginners can understand and he is well organized and knows what beginners really need to learn first. He doesn't overload the book with complications that merely distract from learning and tend to bore the beginner. This is not to say that the subject is easy, just that he really appreciates what a struggle it is for a newcomer to spreadsheet programs to grasp the basic concepts. The "30 minute" bit, is laughable; I have spent 30 minutes on each chapter and then had to review it, to be sure I had it right. But the effort was worth it. The index and glossary alone are a big help in getting started! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is in small print. I used a magnifying glass to read it and wish that it was available in computer format so I could magnify it on the screen. When I have finished it, I hope to go to some of the other books on the subject and be able to understand what they are talking about.

This publication is easy to read and more importantly, teaches you more than the basics of EXCEL. Highly recommended.

This book is good for someone who knows nothing, but it really doesnt have as much as I expected it to have in it. A bit dissappointed. but if you are a total beginner it is a great book.
