Genuine product that works well as advertised 👍
I am a new Aeropress fan and loving this little gadget to keep the brew drip-free, a much safer approach than the inversion method with the original cap. With the flow control cap, the brews made were more flavorful and professional for sure .. So far I only tested the flow control with original Aeropress paper filter. Nice and easy pressurized push to get the finished coffee. No leak around the flow through cap during the push process. Filter paper fitted perfectly into cap and easy snug twist into the bottom. Easy cleanup to rinse and dry. I will try the Aeropress stainless steel filter soon for Expresso style brews. Expecting the reusable s/s filter will be letting more flavors and oil through which is something to look forward to :-) This flow through cap is a must for serious Aeropress brewers. I got a bundle deal with the flow through cap and s/s filter for $35 which is ok for genuine brand that are made in USA.

Recommended for best Aeropress results
This cap is tiers better than the original. It allows longer coffee immersion times, almost no leakage, and better plunger control. The cap should come with the Aeropress or be part of a premium package. It’s an immediate upgrade and recommended purchase for frequent Aeropress users. Pros: * Little to no leakage; producing fuller and less astringent results. * The ability to immerse the grinds for longer without the use of the inverted method. * Plunger presses are easier and more controlled. Cons: * Requires slightly more cleaning time compared to the original cap. * Slight leaking can happen at the walls if the plunger is pressed too firmly. This can be avoided by using less force. There will not be a lot of leaking regardless. * Note: The competing Fellow Prismo cap will produce similar results with less leakage. However, it requires a special metal filter. Pro tip: This cap + 2 paper filters will produce an amazing cup of coffee!

Now you can use any cup/mug you want with the aeropress
I don’t usually leave reviews but I thought this tidbit might be helpful for the right reader. This adaptor has solved my biggest issue with the Aeropress: the old filter holder wouldn’t fit inside all of the travel mugs that I have/want. But not only is this filter holder a little smaller (now it fits inside my Fellow commuter mug) but I can use it with pretty much any cup or mug because of the single valve in the center of the holder. In combination with my travel version of the Aeropress it is the perfect coffee set up for someone who travels a lot or uses their aeropress outside of the home. I live on a sailboat about half of the year and travel around the country the rest of the time so it’s important to have the sturdy, effective, and quality versions of the essentials. Before I had to hunt around for the right commuter mugs that fit the diamater of the old filter hodler, with this new holder I’m freed from that! I use a reusable filter and this is a really great zero waste, easy clean up set up. The coffee always tastes great too!

does exactly what I needed
I broke the carafe of my French press so I went looking for a new carafe or a new French press. I was also trying to find something that would allow me to press the grind mass at the end of the brew. My French press plunger would stop about an inch above the mass so I couldn't press it. After reviewing numerous French presses, I was stuck with too small or too large. So, I landed on the AeroPress and I also ordered this flow control lid with the platinum plated metal filter so I could do the standard vertical brew/soak without granules or residue in the bottom of my cup. l do ground chocolate beans, not coffee, so my brewing time is ten to 15 minutes and I needed the lid that wouldn't leak in a normal vertical soak/brew. Working great! 10/25/2025 Update My cap started to have some issues and the little pieces that keep the tiny opening closed started to have issues closing correctly - and would start leaking on the counter. I contacted them about it as I was still under warranty. The quickly sent another - shockingly good customer service.

If you have an Aeropress, this is a MUST
I got an Aeropress for Christmas. For two months prior to receiving my gift, I did A LOT of research on them as well as all of the after market accessories (including this cap). One of the few complaints I saw referred to the cap that the company sends on all Aeropress units. The complaints were all about how water (it’s not really coffee as it’s so weak!) came out quickly. Seeing that the cost of this after market cap was almost as much as the Aeropress, I had no intention of purchasing it. My first coffee made thru the Aeropress didn’t work out as I had hoped. But I expected it, as the reviews had warned me that that original cap would leak coffee out. And boy did it leak coffee out (I tried using course grounds ((not recommended)) as well as medium-fine grinds ((recommended)) both with the same results). Half of the water I put in, came right out thru the cap, as I was pouring the water in. Still not convinced I wanted to spend $25 on this cap, my next attempt was inversion. Thankfully, I did it over the sink as the plunger popped out & the water & grinds went all over (clearly I didn’t push the plunger down far enough to prevent this mess!). I gave in. I bought this cap. TOTAL game changer! Not one drop dripped out of this cap until I pressed the plunger down. This cap is worth every dollar. Why 4 stars? Because this cap should come stock, with every Aeropress. The original cap is totally useless as so many of the reviews confirm. It feels dishonest that the company sells a great product with a defective piece, forcing consumers to purchase an expensive fix. Shame on you Aeropress. That said, the Aeropress is my go-to for my morning coffee, only because I have this cap!! My coffee is better than the French Press I had been using. The cap is a must. Bite the bullet & get it. You won’t regret it.

Steeping
It’s a little harder to push down than I realized, but I love it. If you are using disposable cubs, you might have issues. I love it.

Game changer for an already amazing product
I've been using the Aeropress with the stock cap and paper filters to make Americanos and have been thrilled with the results. However, I was never able to make a rich cup of cold brew because the long (1-minute) stir time allowed too much water to seep into the cup before plunging. And I never tried the inverted method because it sounded like too much planning, hassle, and potential for a mess. However, with the Flow Control Filter Cap, zero water gets through until you plunge, so the grinds get super saturated, and the result is a rich cup of cold brew in just one minute. This is truly nearly as good as Toddy cold brew, albeit with far less time, effort, and counter space. You can also now use pre-ground coffee — which has a slightly coarser-than-recommended grind — without the water quickly draining into your cup. The Flow Control Filter Cap unlocks the full potential and versatility of the Aeropress to the point that I now use it more than my Cuisinart coffee maker, and I look forward to traveling with it so I no longer have to search for good coffee while on the road.

Worth the Money
Pricey, but it stops the pre-press drip, which I feel does improve the flavour of our coffee even more. It's well made, too, so I expect that it will last many years. Happy that I bought it.

Must have accessory
Great addition to my standard aeropress. Totally no drips, holds well and releases with steady pressure (albeit a tad squirty). Able to maintain a nice extraction all the way.

Very useful, worth the spend
I think this is entirely fab. It solves the drip through problem so you now don't need to invert (which was always a silly idea), occasionally adds a nice bit of foam (with a paper filter), makes it a little easier to work with finer grinds, and gives you the flexibility and control to work through different recipes and refine your process. Personally I prefer using a paper filter on its own. It fits fine -- I think a lot of concern about leakage in use actually comes from the practicality of the deeper cap. It does seem expensive but to my mind it is paying off. After a few hundred coffees, here are things you need to know: If you are used to filling a mug to the brim with the standard cap, you will get a lot less in that same mug without leaking, because this cap sits deeper. Even if you give it just enough room, the spray from the nozzle will force some leaks through. You do need to keep the nozzle clean. The smallest amount of coffee solids will hold the nozzle open and you'll get a drip (or it might even squirt some coffee through if you knock it). So if you see a small indentation (or worse a tear) in your paper filter, that is a sign you need to clean the nozzle. It's easy to clean the nozzle: once you've rinsed off the cap and the lid, put the plunger back in, put some water in the Aeropress chamber, put the cap on, press the water through the nozzle, then pull the plunger back a little before removing the cap. That will push water through the nozzle and then pull it closed, and it'll work beautifully the next time. I do this about every three times I rinse, it's quick and easy.
