Perfect for Keeping My Espresso Station Clean and Well-Built
I really love the Breville Knock Box Mini—it’s a game changer for my espresso routine. Before I got this, I was tapping my portafilter against the trash can, and sometimes the basket would come loose and fall into the trash, which was super frustrating. Plus, it made a mess. But with this knock box, that problem is completely gone. It’s sturdy enough that I can knock out the coffee grounds without worrying about the basket popping out or making a mess. The build quality is excellent. It feels solid and well-made, and it’s gentle on my portafilter, so I don’t have to worry about damaging it. The stainless steel design looks sleek next to my espresso machine and holds up well over time. It’s also compact, so it doesn’t take up much space on my counter, which is great for small setups. If you’re tired of the mess and dealing with loose baskets, I’d highly recommend this knock box. It’s well-built and makes cleanup super easy.

After having this for 4 years, while knocking out my morning puck...
I thought I should let you know what a great knock box this is. It is well-designed, well-made, sturdy, unobtrusive and easy to clean. It still looks and functions like it did when it was new, which is very good. Edit... After reading some of the negative reviews concerning size and messiness, I wondered why I hadn't noticed either of those things with my box. I make triple shots, around 25 grams of ground espresso beans. The resulting pucks are on the large side, I expect. I think it's important to knock the puck out right after pulling the shot, as the longer it stays in the portafilter, the harder it is to knock out. The configuration of the bar places it under the near edge of the portafilter...usually three light taps loosens the puck so it pivots off the bar and lands gently in the box. It stays totally in one piece, nothing flies anywhere, it's just a big puck dropping into the box. There's room for maybe 6 of these pucks in the box, so for me, daily emptying is all that's called for. I can go 2 days if I don't make drinks for anyone else. In our environment, pucks will start to mold after a day or so, anyway, so I wouldn't want to be collecting pucks in any knock box for more than one day, anyway. So, no, this box does not make a mess, yes, it is engineered well, and works as designed, and no, it is not too small.

Mess-reducer!
The box is plastic, with a sturdy plastic bar. The outside of the box has a metal layer. The box itself is not very heavy but is weighted enough not to slide on the table when used. There is rubber on the bottom which also assists against sliding. I like to fill my espresso funnel over this box to catch stray grounds. After brewing, I knock the funnel against the bar two or three times which easily gets the puck out. When grounds started to build up in the box, I removed the bar easily by twisting with the handle on the side and pulling it out the side. I find this has saved me a lot of mess. I was skeptical of the usefulness, or at least thought I didn’t truly need this. I would try to knock into the trash can, which usually resulted in some grounds on the floor and coffee splatters on the wall. I would knock my puck into the sink, which could spread grounds all over other dishes or splash water with grounds up around the sink area, which is a headache to clean. Having a container with a sturdy place to hit and knock out the puck helps keeps the majority of the grounds contained to one area, helping to my kitchen sink and countertops cleaner of coffee grounds. I ended up loving this and I am very glad I purchased it. If you’re skeptical like I was, take it from me - it is worth having if you make espresso frequently. It just makes the process of cleaning your espresso accessories quicker, smoother, and neater. I will say I have not had this long so I don’t know how easy it is to fully “clean” with soap and water since I haven’t had to do that yet. But since it’s plastic and the bar can be removed easily, I imagine it’s a quick hand wash in the sink from being pristine once again.

Perfect Knock Box
I have a Breville Bambino Plus and soon realized I needed a place to easily remove the coffee 'puck' after extraction. Having made a mess wandering over to our kitchen trash can, my wife asked me to find a solution and I found one which turned out to be too large and I replaced it with this one. It is a perfect size and is robust enough to withstand the fairly substantial 'bash' you have to give the portafilter in order to remove the coffee puck that forms after the extraction process. Cleaning is simple with the knock bar being very easy to remove. The coffee grounds go onto the garden as they excellent for promoting plant growth apparently. Pros: 1. Great size for several 2 cup sessions. Lasts about 5 days. 2. Very robust. 3. Easy to clean. 4. Well made. Cons: None, really. Thoroughly recommeded.

Works, Small
Liked: looks great, compact, non-slip, it does work even with forceful knocking (more secure when holding box with other hand), stable while knocking one-handed, off-set (not centered) cross bar, raised rear wall to help prevent messes, easy to disassemble and clean, reassembles easily and securely, reported longevity. Disliked: a little too small to prevent some counter mess unless your puck is dry (I have a 54mm portafilter); product is mostly plastic with a stainless steel shell; cross bar seems to be rubber-coated plastic instead of rubber-coated steel. I wish it were about an inch wider on each side, but I will continue to use it while researching other knock boxes. Addendum: I've been using it for a little while now and still like it. I no longer have plans to replace it.

Great Addition!
I planned to buy a knock box to replace the plastic food container that I was currently using. I like to save the grounds and use it to fertilize my garden (worms love coffee grounds). But I needed a container where I could store the grounds so that I didn't have to dump it outside daily. The plastic container I was using wasn't strong enough. After several uses, it cracked while knocking out grounds. I originally planned to get the larger knock box. But after reading many of the reviews for the large knock box, I switched to the mini based on two primary factors: 1. The great majority of reviewers indicated the large knock box is too large (6 x 7 x 7). As a frame of reference, I measured out the space on my countertop. Sure enough it would have been too large for my kitchen as well. But I could store the knock box in my garage. 2. A reviewer indicated that the grounds could attract gnats if you wait too long to dump them. After considering the reviews, I chose the mini and I'm glad I did. I love it. The size is perfect for one coffee drinker who prepares one to two shots of espresso daily (4" L x 4" W x 4.5"). The mini is large enough to hold the grounds for up a week or so, and the removable bar makes it easy to clean. I highly recommend it. However, if you have 2 or more people that drink more than one cup of coffee daily, you may need the larger knock box to hold it for a week or so. Thank you everyone who provided a review. It helped me to make an informed decision. Tip: The photo on amazon makes the mini look yellowed. But it's not. It must have been the lighting when they took the photo. The mini arrives with a stainless exterior.

A Must-Have Accessory for Coffee Lovers
I recommend this product to all coffee enthusiasts out there! The Breville Knock Box Mini is a game-changer when it comes to coffee and espresso machine accessories. What I liked most about this product is the stainless steel canister, which not only adds a touch of elegance to my coffee station but also ensures durability and easy cleaning. No more worrying about coffee stains! And let's not forget the no-mess coffee puck removal feature. It's genius! No more sticky fingers or coffee grounds all over the countertop. The Breville Knock Box Mini truly makes my coffee brewing experience hassle-free. However, if I had to suggest an improvement, it would be to offer an option for a larger knock box. While the mini size is perfect for everyday use, a bigger option would be great for those who brew multiple cups at once. Overall, I am highly satisfied with this product. It has made my coffee routine more enjoyable and convenient. Perfect to contain the coffee pucks and eliminate mess, jus...

You might not think you need it but trust me, it's so worth it!
I recently got a Breville Barista Touch and am absolutely loving it. At first, I didn't get any accessories - a knock box? Really? Can't you just knock the pucks into the trash? But then I started to hate that I was banging my nice portafilter onto the edge of my trashcan. So I decided to go ahead and get it, especially since it was only $20 on Amazon vs $35 on Breville's site. It is SO worth it! One knock and the puck comes out, easy peasy. The rubber bar is sturdy and built for an aggressive hit without damaging it or your portafilter. It is super super easy to take out the rubber bar to empty and clean, too! I did not think this was necessary but now I can't imagine not having it. NOTE ON SIZE: The Mini is small and takes up like no counter space - it's a bit wider than the portafilter which means it's nice and compact but perfectly sized to get the job done! Super great for apartment living or smaller kitchens :) If you're thinking about getting one.... just do it. It's so worth it.

Nice and compact, well designed, fairly sturdy.
This compact unit is effective without taking up too much space (I looked at the larger round Breville unit in a retail store and it's BIG.). It appears to be sturdy enough to take a fair bit of abuse, since you really need to knock fairly hard 2-3 times to get the spent espresso grounds out of the portafilter. The bar is easy to remove when the knock-box needs to be emptied, which is fairly often as the capacity is small, and it's easy to empty and rinse out. It's fairly light overall, so I usually hold it with one hand while knocking the spent espresso out with the other hand. The only real challenge (which I gather isn't specific to this knock-box) is that some residual liquid espresso usually remains in the bottom of the portafilter, and splashes out during the knocking process, creating a bit of a mess. I use this with my Breville espresso machine.

Calidad Breville
