Transcend 128GB JetFlash 700 USB 3.0 Flash Thumb Drive, Black

Good value and a decent memory stick.

Transcend is one of my favourite memory device manufacturers and I use their SD cards in my digital cameras and their USB memory sticks with my Macintosh computers. I have several memory sticks with a larger capacity (32GB and 64GB) but this 16GB model was purchased with a specific application in mind. I have stored on it a stripped down version of my Macintosh operating system (OS X) and equipped it with all the software tools and utilities to enable me to fix my computer should it go wrong. Disk corruption can cause minor problems but it can also prevent the computer from starting. By placing a copy of OS X on a memory stick I can optionally boot (startup) from the memory stick and use the tools and utilities upon it to get my computer working again. This often means fixing some minor disk corruption on the computer's internal hard drive. Of course, booting from a 'clone', an external hard disk drive (HDD) with an exact copy of the computers own HDD, will do the same job but the cost will be much higher. Memory stick prices have dropped faster than small HDDs. It is also possible to boot from a recovery CD, if one is provided, but this can take quite some time because there are mechanical components involved. By using a memory stick to boot the computer, startup time is cut to a fraction of that achievable from a disk (CD/DVD) and an optical disk drive, which may not be functioning due to the corruption. A USB memory stick is a perfectly acceptable 'emergency boot device' because it is truly solid-state and has no moving parts. But it is very important to choose a memory stick which has a fast 'read access' rate and the Transcend 16GB JetFlash 700 Super Speed USB 3.0 Drive meets this objective easily. The Transcend has a fast 'write access' rate too but this feature is less important in my particular application. I use Transcend memory sticks with Macintosh, Windows and Linux computers and I have never encountered a compatibility problem. They just work.

Seems to work well and is good quality.

Not much to say, works as intended and has just under 16gb of space. I have only had it for around a month now with minimal use so I don’t know what the durability is like

I've had this Transcend memory stick for well over a year now and it hasn't missed a beat. Everything I plug it into recognises it first time every time and I've not had a single piece of corrupted data or any problems with missing files whatsoever. I've had a few memory sticks over the years and this is the only one I feel comfortable with leaving important files on that I don't have another copy of. I know this is a daft and risky thing to do but unlike other memory sticks I've had, this one hasn't given me any cause for concern. There's not much more to say really, performance-wise, it's been flawless and the only slight criticism I can make about it is that I wish the USB plug cap could be pushed on to the back end of the stick to make it harder to lose when the memory stick is in use. I haven't lost mine yet but we all know that sooner or later and always when you least expect it, small plastic parts like this really seem to enjoy pulling a vanishing act and going for a little adventure under a cupboard!

Does exactly what it says on the box (packaging) works superbly on USB3.0.. excellent flow of data and even on USB 2.0 it is faster than their earlier models (300 series).. VFM? (Value for Money) .. I would say yes without hesitation. I compared the price to may 'rivals' and including Transcend's own website and I still saved .. [Amazon included free delivery and no additional import tax] 5 Star ***** Rating Excellent quality Smmoth design Neon Blue LED DATA Stream indicator Neon Blue LED Power light Replacement tops available from the manufacturer [should you lose it] Lifetime Warranty Yes.. definitely ticked all the boxes ===================================== As of 30/05/13 Drive failed.. constant blue flashing LED and unable to access drive using the Transcend Recovery software.. even by using CMD in three different Windows OS [Vista, 7 and 8 Pro] there was no reading the drive using 3.0 or 2.0 Drive will have to be sent back to Transcend for a replacement... Reliability is now a concern.

I work in tech and have purchased many a USB sticks in my day. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE. I have some very high end very expensive USB drives that I use for work but I wanted something to watch my downloaded movies and TV Shows on my TV so I bought this and it's been such a headache after using ANY OTHER USB stick with better exeperience ISSUES THAT I'VE NEVER HAD WITH OTHER USB: -Trying to eject it says it cannot it's being used by other software (PC) but it's def not even when I close everything it still says it cannot be ejected which means I have to pull it out and doing this enough times I know will eventually corrupt the thing -I've had transferring take issues or say there is a issue but I HAVE NEVER had a USB finish all the transferring and everything looks right only to play videos off of it and see it DID NOT transfer the AUDIO with the video? Overall super strange experiences, I transferred over an entire season of one of my TV shows, and some episodes had issues while others played fine. I see that I have to transfer each episode one by one until they finish until I can start another one and THEN it will transfer correctly, but what a headache. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

I've listed the speeds in both USB2 and USB3 ports below. The performance is decent for the price of the unit. The plastic housing does't feel as sturdy as most usb sticks I own, but it still should be tough enough to last with general use. Bin sehr zufrieden. Erfüllt alle Zwecke, kann ich nur weiter empfehlen. Auch überspielt er sehr schnell die Bilder, auch mit großer MB Anzahl.

Fait son travail : support mémoire de masse. J'ai l'impression que les débits sont faibles.

Une super clé hyper rapide. Permet d'emporter des fichiers lourds. Un produit idéal pour les grands voyageurs. Le top !

Très bonne clé USB, la marque Transcend reste une valeur sûre en termes de fiabilité et de performance. La vitesse de transfert est correcte en USB 3.1 et la clé est reconnue immédiatement sans souci. Son design est sobre et solide, elle inspire confiance pour stocker ou transporter des fichiers importants. Un excellent rapport qualité/prix, je recommande sans hésitation.
