This splinter guard was a lot cheaper that the festool brand named splinter guard. I replaced the worn out original on my 60" straight edge. It sticks on like tape. The next day I did an initial cut to establish the "cut line" without any problem.If you have used this tool before you know that the splinter guard provides an accurate "Line" that becomes your cut location. It has been great so far.

Works great

While I'm not purchasing another roll of splinter guard from another manufacturer to replace this immediately, there are a couple of issues. The strip does not seem to have an even spread of adhesive, and the adhesive it does have isn't very strong. I notice the guard peeling away a bit, especially at the ends, as I use my tracjs and inevitably brush against it. Additionaly, on the first cut used to set the reference edge, the guard melted and frizzled up along the edge rather than leaving a nice cut line.

I used this on my Festool rails. It works great but you really need to completely clean off the area from the old strip first. I used goo off and rubbing alcohol. My only complaint is that when cutting it for the first time the plastic melts and makes a rough edge. It does not transfer to the actual cut on the wood.

Doesn't stick! ends curl up. Clamped guard with a straight board for 2 days and 5 hours later the ends curled up.

The adhesive works very good if you make sure that you clean the aluminum extremely well.

Great Product

Cheaper alternative to the festool splinter tape, however the 'memory' in the tape from being coiled up seems to be a weak point. I suggest sacrifice 150mm length of tape and then apply the tape to the rail.
