The misery of Karl Pilkington, unique thinker and favorite whipping boy of Ricky Gervais, is once again offered up for laughs in the second season of the BBC reality/comedy series An Idiot Abroad . After dispatching Pilkington to the Seven Wonders of the World in the first season, Gervais and Stephen Merchant once again convince their erstwhile radio producer to fulfill a "bucket list" of experiences that most people hope to achieve before their death. Pilkington, however, is not most people--he is perhaps most politely described as an avowed homebody who appreciates the shallower things in life--and his extreme discomfort at being forced to travel the globe and face a host of unique experiences is the backbone of the show's humor and appeal. Gervais and Merchant are largely off-screen, reveling in their chance to shake up Pilkington's narrow world by forcing him to endure a centrifuge at a cosmonaut training facility in Russia, plunge into shark-infested waters, consume animal droppings, be embraced by a gaggle of New Age therapists, and endure an on-camera prostate exam at the series' close. While many of the encounters would cause even the most adventurous viewer to have second thoughts, some moments are unique, once-in-a-lifetime scenarios, like coming face-to-face with an African mountain gorilla or climbing Japan's Mount Fuji. Pilkington's response to these situations is the same po-faced, mumbled litany of complaints he reserves for the series' more hideous challenges, which wipes away a lot of sympathy for his tribulations. In the end, An Idiot Abroad is less of a travelogue about the most unusual places and events in the world and more about a man who views them with the bleary, grey-colored glasses of a terminally checked-out individual. Your appreciation of the series will depend entirely on whether you regard Pilkington as funny or baffling; the DVD includes all 16 episodes, as well as a collection of clips set to his rendition of Chas & Dave's "Ain't No Pleasing You" and Pilkington hawking his own invention, "Pilko's Pump Pants," on television. --Paul Gaita Idiot Abroad, An: Season 2 In the second season of this hilarious series Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, co-creators of The Office and Extras help their friend Karl Pilkington (The Ricky Gervais Show) complete tasks from his bucket list...except the experience is never as easy or as fun as it seems. Gervais and Merchant find ways to arrange a few surprises along the way to keep things interesting. In the end, Pilkington ends up visiting more places and suffering more detours than he did in the first season! Find out what happens when an idiot goes abroad…again! Review: Absolutely hilarious - This show brings me to tears. Hilarious. Living in the United States, it was hard to find a copy that was compatible with our technology, and this one works great. Review: Too funny for words - I just can't believe that there is a season two after season one's ending. I am so happy he came back to do this one. My mom and I laughed so hard at him and his antics and comments. It was wonerfully funny, and is definately worth owning. I did love season one more, but I still love this so much that I quote it frequently or now have inside jokes with my mom about some of Karl's thoughts. I would absolutely hate to spoil it, but I will say if you love season one, this is a must. The extras in this season are also a good reason to get the dvds.

British humour
Having watched this series at home in the UK I decided to buy it for my cousin's son for his Xmas gift as he enjoys British humour. Karl is sent off to various locations around the world by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Marchant and they organise for him to do some unusual things at each stop. He is a typical northern lad and he's always got a pessimistic view of everything. The things he gets up yo our often hilarious. Love this series and so did my cousin's son!

Its one of my favorite shows--even after a decade of first seeing it
Love Karl. My only beef is that there aren't more seasons!

Better than anything American programmers can come up with.
American tv and movies are lousy. Try this program for mild entertainment...It's actually worth watching, which is more than I can say for 99% of the absolute garbage America comes up with these days.

More Carl-ific fun awaits Carl with season 2
More of the same from season 1. Some of the situations in season 2 I didn't find as funny as in season 1. But to see Carl who really doesn't want to venture beyond his safety zone, decide to wing walk instead of dance in a Gay club.... well..... That's worth the price of admission in itself. Really, the only complaint I have about the series is... Where is season 3 an 4... Come-on, your loving fans await.

Outrageously Funny Entertainment
Idiot Abroad (The first in the series) was a fantastic video - and, what an opportunity to see locations around the world that the incidental tourist would never find highlighted in a guidebook or hear about from a travel agent. It only gets better: Karl stars in all of the episodes, and it's impossible not to be seduced by his wit, candor, profundity and unique, circular charms! Ricky and Steve keep him hopping - and regulate his moods rather well when they put their minds to it. The three men are so interesting, they could sit and chat for hours, record their ramblings, and most likely have another hit. Idiot Abroad Season2 is a video to keep for those times when you desperately need an uplift, a situational cheerleader, a major distraction. It's something to have and to hold, and to cherish until your sides actually do split.

A must see
I quickly ordered season 2 after watching season 1 in it's entirety. Karl goes on journey's and gets to experience the bucket list of a lifetime - just not his lifetime. He does such cool things and moans about it the entire time - although I felt he might have enjoyed making this season a bit more than season one. Must see - so funny. I love Karl and this is really a worthwhile watch! Loved the hippo in the house episode also Karl doing drag was fascinating as well!

Karl in full moaning Minnie mode, and I love it!
Karl is back with his whingeing and odd eating habits, seeing more of the world and pretty much complaining about it all! If you know, you know. Can't get enough of Karl and his moaning Minnie anticts - wish they would make another series of this. I have all 3 series on DVD/Blu-ray and quite often we'll dip into them when there's nothing good on TV and we're in need of a good laugh. This series sees Karl visiting places that often pop up on bucket lists... just, not his! From meeting gorillas in Africa to whale watching in Alaska, swimming with dolphins in Australia to a road trip on Route 66, Karl sees the world through very unique eyes and his dour, deadpan take on everything he encounters is hilarious.

Non-stop laughs, truly brilliant. Karl Pilkington at his very best!
Where to begin? Karl Pilkington is perhaps best known for being Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant's bizarre minded (Albeit genius) close friend. Following a very successful first series, Karl is back to embark on journey following a number of somewhat humiliating tasks. Karl, a man who isn't especially keen on being out of his comfort zone, attempts some of these. While not having high hopes to begin with that he'll actually complete them. With Ricky & Steve regularly calling him on his mobile phone, these moments make you very excited on what Karl's reaction to his next task will be. Furthermore, Karl moans, groans and then complains his way through many activities upcoming he will have to travel to next, with well and truly hysterical results! (I won't spoil it for some, by giving out names of the locations). I will mention the fact that this programme isn't for everybody, some people clearly won't understand Karl, by not getting the clever comedy within the situations and the many terms and phrases Karl uses throughout the show. If you enjoyed the XFM radio shows (Which can still be listened to on the Internet) and The infamous Ricky Gervais podcasts, or even a huge fan of Ricky & Steve themselves! The possibility you'll love this is pretty high. So if your feeling slightly down and fancy being cheered up, then Karl's your man!Sit down, get comfy, and enjoy Karl's thrilling voyage to explore, across the sea's, out of his comfort zone. Higher your standards with this gem! Here lies a misunderstood genius in the making, all the ranting and the whining you can possibly hope for! Just to exceptional for words. Certainly a viewing pleasure. A laugh a minute extravaganza!
