Great quality retro handheld with a collection of great Capcom games
This is the second device I’ve bought from Hyper Mega Tech/Evercade, the first being the Taito Super Pocket, and I am extremely happy with it. The device has great build, good design and a nice selection of capcom games for an amazing price. The build quality of the handheld is great. It feels solid in the hand, has a nice weight and it’s the perfect size for on the go gaming. It’s comfortable to hold during games and the buttons are nice and responsive, the D pad is very responsive and has a good feel. The only drawback I’d say is the buttons on the reverse of the device. They are not the easiest to use, but it’s fortunate that only a couple of games, as far as I can tell make use of these. The display is nice and bright, with good bowing angles and colors. Its small size has not bothered me at all considering how close you hold the device anyhow. It would be nice to have the option to change the brightness levels. Sound is pretty decent for a mono speaker and is nice and loud; I’d actually say I’d like it if the volume could go a little lower for night time gaming etc. at least there is a headphone jack. The battery life so far has been superb and as per the 4 plus hours claim. Your mileage may vary depending on the games played etc The game selection is superb considering the price point of the device and that all of them except mega man are arcade originals. Standouts for me include street fighter, final fight, strider, captain commando, ghouls and ghosts, and 1943. The only criticism is maybe some of the shoot ‘em up games are more suited to a taller screen… but there’s only a few of them and i really didn’t mind using the display options to stretch to full screen for these. It doesn’t look that bad and I think it makes them much more playable on this size of screen. The best thing regarding the games is that these are all fully licensed games… no downloading ROMs from dodgy websites and the developers get paid the money they deserve. It’s a win win. All in all it’s an awesome device for the price and I look forward to future releases of such devices from this company.

Pocket retro heaven!
Fantastic little pocket arcade machine with lots of classics included. Sound and graphics are really good but not being a great gamer I did find some games quite hard to navigate - but I think that's due to my lack of skill rather than the Super Pocket! Battery life seems incredibly good, it's sat on the shelf for quite some time between usage and still hasn't required a recharge. The screen is really clear and it sounds good despite the small size. Controls will come naturally to most prospective buyers but the best bit for me is the the chance to relive some of the best arcade games from the 1980s while sitting on the sofa.

Some great inbuilt games
Love the 3x shmup games (1944 etc.) Ability to have inbuilt games is handy as well as the Evercade cartridge slot.

I'm a fan now
Right. I don't review stuff very much but I love this little machine. Officially licensed bangers from Capcom like Mercs and Ghosts and Ghouls. Then the way it plays as it's just straight into the game and such a nostalgia rush. Plus, save states, multiple modes and the spot on controls. It has saved me from multiple boring conversations and caused me to have more interesting ones with people wondering what I'm up to, and then afterwards watching them getting totally locked in to it as well. It's superbly made - so far this is like a Gameboy quality thing. Then, you have the ability to add other carts. Will pop on a review later about one of those, but I've had such a lot of fun playing this and it's five stars plus. Get it for anyone that played games in the arcades as a kid, when arcades were a thing. Or for a kid who wants to play a proper game. Not joking I had a big birthday not so long ago and if anyone had bought me this instead I would have married her immediately, no refusals, plus would have deliberately ignored legal due care and process with my own assets, instead of them just getting me flipping socks. Which were actually fine as far as they go. Would have saved a lot of faff though. Enough about my life. This machine is mint. Buy your own birthday present is my hardworn advice, and this is superb.

Evercade Capcom Super Pocket
As a lifelong gamer, I love retro games, and I love little gadgets, but what I love most of all is being able to get officially licensed stuff, so this Capcom Super Pocket is just perfect. Even better then, is that you can use all of Evercade's cartridges in the system, and they work perfectly. When you insert the cartridge, you do need to go into the options and select it, which will then show the games from that cartridge, which is fine, but I haven't seen a way to show the games on the cartridge and on the console simultaneously. The 12 built-in games are fantastic. I've had no problems with any of them, and they look great on the screen. You do have the choice to run them fullscreen or pixel-perfect, and you can add 2 variations of scanlines for the authentic CRT feeling. With that said, there isn't a great amount of options compared to some emulators out there, but you do get the basics, and they are solid. The sound quality is good, better than I expected. There's a lot of replayability here. The controls are limited, with 4 face buttons, some bumper buttons and a D-pad, but no thumbsticks. However, despite being called super pocket, I would be careful with putting it in your pocket, I did, and despite thinking I had cleared them out, I apparently didn't find my key, which did end up scratching the screen unfortunately, and I was aware of the console being in my pocket, so I was quite conscious of being careful, so I don't think it takes much to scratch it. Entirely my fault, but be careful. I picked this up for £39.99, which I think is great value for money for a licensed product. The presentation is also very nice, and the box is something I want to keep on my shelf as a collector's item. I'm chuffed with it!

Four of the greatest coin-ops together.. Absolute Bargain
What a steal for fifty quid! I've been playing these games for over thirty years and still play them they're that good.. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the stellar coin-ops on this quaint little machine.. Strider, Ghouls n Ghosts, Final Fight and of course the arcade masterpiece.. Streetfighter 2 turbo. Such is the pedigree of these titles that if you like even one? offered in such a fantastic package for £50..? Need I say more...? Personally, I adore Strider.. I've been playing it for thirty years and it never, ever loses its charm.. I love it, I really do! Any of the games I've mentioned are absolutely brilliant and they're are others on this little machine, cracking games... Brimming with a timeless playability that just don't get in titles today. Buy this little handheld 'jewel' it's well made to, the back buttons are a bit of a design afterthought but honestly I'm nit-picking really, at least it's got some back buttons. Listen.. go buy it because its worth every penny!

A bit of casual fun
Screen is good, and controls are good too considering the size. 2-3 good games in the list. Arcade versions of the games are hard, even when setting the console to easy mode. I haven’t tried additional games via cartridge slot. Looks like I will need to purchase an additional cartridge that has an SD card to add my own games to the system.

Very Small
I would love to give this a higher rating as I like the concept. Big minuses for me is that you can’t change the controls. You can only view their setup, and that’s it. Also, the unit is too small for an adult set of hands. Weird choice since the target audience probably is 40+ males who grew up with these games.

Quality product - for the price
For $60, you can do a lot worse gaming-wise than picking up the Capcom edition Super Pocket. It’s got a 4 hour battery life - and comes with a USB charging cable, but not with an actual charging brick or equivalent, so make sure you’re ready with one of those. To rate the quality of the actual console - it’s mostly good, albeit with a few quirks. Screen size is small - which is to be expected for a console so small to begin with, but there’s three screen formatting options, and unless you have eye problems, the screen should be sufficient for what it does. My biggest issue is with the controls - the front of the device has four buttons set in a PlayStation-styled cross pattern. These work perfectly fine. The D-Pad works well enough for fighting games - I tested Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, and my Ryu could do fireballs, whirlwind kicks and dragon punches well enough. My issue lies with the back buttons. There’s four of them lined up in a straight line, as can be seen in other people’s footage of the device. There’s two bigger ones, and two smaller ones - tiny buttons hanging out on the edge of the console. For Street Fighter II, heavy punch and heavy kick are mapped to the L2 and R2 buttons - the tiny ones, which can be hard to use in the middle of a fight, the heavy punch especially, as you have to juggle using that with D-Pad movement on the same hand. Mapping these to L1 and R1 would have felt more natural. Sadly, there’s no way to remap the buttons, that I know of. The silver lining in this is that a majority of the games you play on the Super Pocket might not use more than 2 - 4 buttons, meaning this might be a rare problem to come across. Overall - it’s a tiny console, clearly meant to mimic the Game Boy in size and use, and it’s an Evercade console, meaning it’s compatible with the 70+ and growing cartridges that allow you to change what games you play. I got the Rare Collection 1, and have been able to have a blast clearing the turbo tunnel in BattleToads. I have the Legacy of Kain and Duke Nukem collections coming. If you want something more than a one-off device that gives you a dozen licensed games and calls it a day, and you miss the act of buying physical cartridges that work out of the box - Evercade seems to provide. If you just want a one-off because you love Capcom that much, this still might be for you! Overall - it’s a console that offers reasonable quality for a cheap price. I wish the button layout was a little different in the back, and it’s a tiny console. There are better handheld choices if you’re interested in the Evercade’s ecosystem. It’s still very playable though, and for the price of a modern game, I don’t think you’ll get much better quality than what’s on offer. This can work well as a budget buy, or as a way to have an easy to carry portable gaming choice to complement an Evercade home console, which I have ordered and coming soon. Evercade doesn’t offer the bells and whistles some companies, Analogue for example, offer, but they offer quality emulation for a reasonable price. As for the games packed with the device - I love Capcom, which drew me to this. Capcom’s repackaged these games a lot of times though, so it’s hard to be too excited about them. We don’t need five versions of Street Fighter II, but choosing Hyper Fighting and ignoring the Super games is a disappointing choice. Mega Man’s always a solid choice, but the Evercade EXP, a superior console to this one, albeit a more expensive and discontinued one, also included Mega Man 2 and X. The choice to include Bionic Commando Arcade and ignore the far superior NES game is dismaying. But it does have Captain Commando, Forgotten Worlds and a personal favorite, MERCs. Your mileage will vary here, but overall I’d say the game choices are decent, albeit not overwhelming.

Muy bueno
Excelentes juegos aún cuando el mando es complicado y los botones de atrás están muy juntos
