Bosch CC2430 Clic-Change 1/4in Self-Centering Drill Bit Set (3 Piece)

I grew up in a cabinet shop, and I was helping my dad not long after I could walk. Here's the deal: I always started screws with a punch that you hit with a hammer. An old German carpenter that went through the guild system before the Second World War taught me to keep a bar of ivory soap in my tool belt. You punch a hole in the center of the butt, coat the screws in soap to lubricate the threads and prevent splitting face frames, and screw away... I used a Yankee screwdriver long before cordless drills became common. Years ago, I got a cheap self-centering drill bit, and chucked it into my (then) high-tech 14 volt cordless drill. The result was worse and slower than what I always did with a hammer. So, I went back to the punch, and I ignored the dirty looks that I got from other finish carpenters. I just figured their disdain for my trusty Stanley punch came from the same ignorance that made them ask me what I needed a coping saw for... Anyways, a couple of presidents have been in office since then, and I really like Bosch tools (I even buy Bosch brand kitchen appliances), so I decided to give it another try. I received these bits about a week ago, and I've used them on probably 2-300 hinges since then. I've gotta tell you, I'm a convert. They are as accurate as they are effortless to use. I have used them on everything from solid mahogany doors to hollow core doors to cabinet doors. They are sharp and they don't gum up with dust. Of course, you could just wing it, like all of the painters do when they put the doors back up. Your screws will all protrude at a funny angle past the face of the hinge, and the doors will all rub the stop in weird places... But, hell... Everyone else does them that way! Or, you could actually act like a real carpenter for once in your life and order these.

I bought these to ensure flat screw instalation in faceplate for fan install in a cabinet that holds my Xbox series X. They worked perfectly to allow me to drill my first perfectly centered screw wholes. The mounting screws are near perfectly flat, the only variance being that the cheaper screws were not centered to begin with, so there is some slight imperfection in the install, but not nearly enough for me to feel it is flawed. I am a novice with wood working, and have attempted quite a bit to train myself and my eyecrometer, so I can center the drill bit by hand and get perfectly straight screws in such an install, that has proven exceptionally difficult, especially given my astigmatism and struggle with depth perception. These bits removed any need for development and allowed me to simply select the right size bit, then put it in the mounting bracket and drill the holes I needed. After merely making sure the mounting bracket didn't move between holes, I have a very professional looking install. Any tool that allows a novice to imitate professional ability is a major win in my book. Bonus, the plunge function of the drill bits were firm enough to keep the bit centered, yet soft enough they didn't pull the painted finish off the mounting plate I was installing. So I didn't have to worry about the screws not covering any piece that may have warn off, if the plunge function were too stiff.

I waited way too long to purchase these. What a game changer! Saves so much time, but more importantly they help you get the screw holes right, the first time! And its made by Bosch so you know its quality.

They work great and I should have brought them years ago. But I would have liked a storage case to keep them together.

These are great, cool tools to have at your disposal when you need to counter sink or line you’re drilling of screws. I got them so I would have them, and I found them very helpful for certain projects.

These are excellent! I was about to buy an off-brand version, but I got this Bosch version of the self centering drill bits instead. We spent a lot on the cabinets and hinges, and I didn’t want to get a cheap version of these that doesn’t drill straight. These did an amazing job drilling for our Blum hinges! They are solid, the spring is just right, and they centered every time. Would definitely buy them again!

I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. Made a great stocking stuffer. Come to find out he already had a set. But he was pretty happy with it because now he has a set to use at work too. So it was still a win.

Literally the best tool for mounting hinges, brackets, etc. I wish I would have bought these a long time ago. Work great and good quality.

Super pratique. On perce enfin au centre sans se prendre la tete et miracle, la pièce est fixée droit. Trois tailles bien choisies, à recommander. Le même pour percer le metal et je serai enfin bien équipé.

Kein Vergleich mit billigen No-Name Produkten. Ich habe davor ähnliche Zentrierbohrer gehabt, die aber eher schlecht als recht funktionierten - obwohl sie fast genau so aussahen. Mit diesem Set bin ich jetzt absolut zufrieden. Es klemmt nichts, sie zentrieren perfekt und arbeiten schnell und zuverlässig. Absolute Kaufempfehlung!
