Overall good binocular just don’t lose your protective lens caps during use
I purchased these to use on my 12 day hike through Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Tetons National Park. For scouting ridgelines and forest and slower moving animals they worked really well. If attempting to scan quickly or follow birds in flight the objective lens is too small to keep up with good focus. I would recommend a 50mm minimum for that type of use. I was in 37-86 degree temperature swings from early morning to late evening and had no issues with fogging up of lens during use. My only issue was weight of unit however knew what I was buying and opted for the 10x42mm over 8x30mm lens to be able to have better vision with my eyeglasses. The weight is significant when adding to your backpack for 6-10 mile daily hikes compared to what is being carried in your pack. They are easy to use, easy to focus and performed as they should. The last call out are the lens protective caps….worthless as they will not stay on and very easy to lose the 42mm caps as they don’t stay hooked to the neck strap and easily falloff when you want them to stay in place. Nikon needs to add some attention to how these are retained and stay in place. If they would make a lens cap like they do for their cameras it would resolve the isssue.

Bel instrument d'optique
