Outlasts OEM—USB-C freedom and field-ready durability
As a working photographer, I’ve trusted Nikon batteries for years—so I was cautious about trying something different. After running this SMALLRIG EN-EL15C for over a year, I can honestly say it outperforms my OEM batteries. Runtime is actually a little longer, and I’ve never once had a charging warning pop up on my cameras. It just works. The USB-C charging is the game-changer. I can top it off from my V-Pro battery, or plug it into solar USB pack when I’m off-grid. No wall outlet required. I bought a blue and orange one to keep track of one and 2. However the bright orange shell makes it easy to spot if it gets dropped in the field—a small but thoughtful detail that saves headaches on long shoots. If I need to replace (probably because I lost it) I'll get another orange. The build feels solid, and it hasn’t let me down in desert heat, dust, or long days of sports and real estate work. If you want more flexibility than OEM without sacrificing reliability, this battery earns its spot in the kit. It’s become my go-to for everyday and remote shoots alike.

The ONLY thing powering my Z6 and Z8
You hear it all the time "Don't use 3rd party batteries cause blah, blah, blah...." and I am here to tell you to squash that noise and pick up a few of these batteries right now. First off, USB-C CHARGING!!!! Yes please... my entire kit is now USB-C chargeable and as a travel videographer, that benefit cannot be understated. No more needing to carry a separate en-el charger, the cable that charges my phone/Osmo Pocket/GoPro/etc,... can now charge my batteries on the go. These actually have a higher capacity than Nikon OEM, and I do actually find a bit of extended use with these, as well as faster charging times, it seems. These do NOT give you any battery warnings and are fully compatible with the Z8 and its battery read outs, and I am on the latest Z6 and Z8 firmware as of 7/12/24 when writing this. I have not had one single issue with these at all. I own 5 now and I leave the Nikon batteries at home now and just grab all the blue ones I can see!

An easy Yes.
I bought these for our D7500 in time for a long vacation, and loved them. They fit the camera and the charger perfectly. I don't have a good sense for their total battery life as I don't shoot enough to get a feel. They charge via their own USB -C in addition to popping into Nikon's really poorly done wall charger, which was fantastic as I was able to just plug them into our USB-C charging "Octopus" at night with everything else. They have a cap on them, so I am able to just throw them into the bag. Never once did we run out of battery with so many on hand. This is an easy choice to make IMO.

Longer lasting batteries and two charging options
These batteries are great. They are cheaper than the Nikon batteries and they last longer. They even give you a charging alternative with the USB-C port. They work great with my Z8.

Awesome
Better than oem batteries. Love the usb c charging too. I have several of these for my Nikon Z6 and can’t recommend enough. Good price too.

Jury is still out
Purchased the blue version, 4332B. The good: it works on Nikon ZF. If there’s a charge. The bad: Initial charge (via USB-C), camera reports only 80% full. I thought maybe after 3 full cycles, it will come to it’s full potential, so I just used it as per my usual camera usage. When it’s time to charge again, it won’t. The LED light turns green (it’s supposed to be fully charged), but camera says it’s only 3%, and will eventually lock the shutter and display a warning that battery needs to be charge. I tried to charge it with the Nikon MH-25a charger, but it just keeps blinking, it won’t charge it. I’m returning this, and requested a replacement, maybe I just received a lemon. I’ll update my review, once I received the replacement.

Well worth it!
Excellent Battery Life. Takes a little longer to charge as it has a higher capacity but well worth it. 5 stars!

Garbage
Purchased one and it worked great to the point I got 2 more. Two have now failed. When they work they are great however I believe these batteries have a very short life. I have emailed Smallrig multiple times and have never received a response. My failed batteries are still within the warranty period. Buy these batteries if you want: 1) a battery that can be used ~ 10 times. 2) a battery without a warranty

Good battery. Great price, especially on sale. Works with Nikon Z8 and Z6III.
I'm happy with the performance of this battery. Good for the price compared to authentic Nikon. I bought two on sale and one failed in a little under a year, it would only charge to 40%. After a few emails with SmallRig tech support they issued a replacement which I had in a couple of days. So good tech support. I primarily used the blue/4332 model with my Z8, but I've also used it in my Z6III without issue. I think I read somewhere that SmallRig silently updated the firmware on the 4332 model at some point so that it works with Z6III. I haven't noticed any compatibility issues yet.

Works great on Z8. Does not work at all on Z6III
October Edit: shortly after writing this review I was contacted directly by SmallRig. July of 2024 they wrote to me apologizing and mentioned they were working on a new battery for the Z6III. And they offered to send it to me free of charge. Further, they let me keep the one I had for the Z8. In mid October they sent me the fixed version that now works in both the Z8 and Z6III. And I have an extra one now for the Z8. That battery lasts longer than the Nikon OEM. I shoot weddings both photo and video and it’s quite noticeable how much longer the SmallRig battery lasts. I have to commend SmallRig on their customer service and going above and beyond in making it right. Thank you to Yancy especially. July original review: I was told at a trade show by SmallRig that their batteries would not be bricked by Nikon as they had “a relationship”. I bought this for my Z8 and it works great. But it doesn’t work at all on the Z6III. A message pops up that “the battery does not communicate with the camera and for the protection of the camera it will not operate”. And I’m a day past my return period.
