SMALLRIG EN-EL15C USB-C Camera Battery for Nikon, 2400mAh 2.5H Fast Charge

As a working photographer, I’ve trusted Nikon batteries for years—so I was cautious about trying something different. After running this SMALLRIG EN-EL15C for over a year, I can honestly say it outperforms my OEM batteries. Runtime is actually a little longer, and I’ve never once had a charging warning pop up on my cameras. It just works. The USB-C charging is the game-changer. I can top it off from my V-Pro battery, or plug it into solar USB pack when I’m off-grid. No wall outlet required. I bought a blue and orange one to keep track of one and 2. However the bright orange shell makes it easy to spot if it gets dropped in the field—a small but thoughtful detail that saves headaches on long shoots. If I need to replace (probably because I lost it) I'll get another orange. The build feels solid, and it hasn’t let me down in desert heat, dust, or long days of sports and real estate work. If you want more flexibility than OEM without sacrificing reliability, this battery earns its spot in the kit. It’s become my go-to for everyday and remote shoots alike.

These batteries are great. They are cheaper than the Nikon batteries and they last longer. They even give you a charging alternative with the USB-C port. They work great with my Z8.

(UPDATE: SmallRig totally resolved this issue I had with one battery when I reported to them. They were very responsive and sent a refund immediately. The metal USB-C port on one battery I received was protruding ever so slightly above the plastic case, and it would catch on something in my D750 and in my Nikon chargers. Just barely...pushing the battery to one side a millimeter will release it from the camera or charger, so it's not a big deal. Another SmallRig battery I purchased did NOT have this issue. I like these batteries and will purchase again. The various colors help me keep my batteries organized also..) Original review: I like the USB charging option. This battery looks identical in form to my original Nikon batteries but my Nikon charger is hooking more firmly to the battery (note: see update above for why this was happening) keeping it from releasing normally. I checked this with 2 different original Nikon chargers and had the same issue with both. Other functions of this battery are great and as mentioned the USB charging option may negate this issue for most users.

I bought this to replace an OEM Nikon EL-EL15 battery that wasn't keeping the charge. I chose this because I am familiar with the Small Rig brand, higher capacity and because of the usb charging. The information said this was compatible with OEM Nikon batteries. I have a Nikon D500, D810 and Z8. The D500 and D810 have battery grips. When I put the Small Rig battery in the battery grips of the D500 and D810 both cameras do not turn on. I get the battery "not charged" icon even though I charged it. However it works if I removed the battery grip and insert the battery into the cameras directly. The battery does work in the Z8. I can charge the battery in the Nikon charger. I am satisfied with this Small Rig battery and will tolerate the inconvenience of removing the battery grip every time I use it. Interestingly Small Rig's website says the orange version of this battery is for the mirrorless Z camera and DSLR camera but the blue version which is what I bought is for DSLR's.

I bought these for our D7500 in time for a long vacation, and loved them. They fit the camera and the charger perfectly. I don't have a good sense for their total battery life as I don't shoot enough to get a feel. They charge via their own USB -C in addition to popping into Nikon's really poorly done wall charger, which was fantastic as I was able to just plug them into our USB-C charging "Octopus" at night with everything else. They have a cap on them, so I am able to just throw them into the bag. Never once did we run out of battery with so many on hand. This is an easy choice to make IMO.

Excellent Battery Life. Takes a little longer to charge as it has a higher capacity but well worth it. 5 stars!

Camera: Nikon z7ii This is the worst battery I have ever used in 8 years of photography. I was on a 10 week backpacking trip to Asia and Korea was my first stop, they made me throw out batteries due to flying restrictions and threw away 2 good batteries to keep this one and the battery broke the first time I used it. My camera just shot off and I thought I broke it as this battery was freshly charged. It now wont even charge on my charger and through USBC charger it charges but doesnt work.. It just simply doesnt work, I thought I broke my camera. I am pissed this battery sucks, I sent the company an Email hopefully it was a dud. I will change review if new battery works!

After 6 months, these SmallRig batteries have proven to be as good if not better than Nikon's OEM EN-EL 15C battery. Shooting in RAW, AF continuous, I get an equivalent number of shots off these SmallRig batteries as the Nikon OEM. And the charging of the SmallRig battery is clever and convenient. I've tried two other third party batteries for the Z8 and found them to have a fraction of the frame rate of the SmallRig or Nikon OEM battery. Top notch batteries are especially important for the Nikon Z8. The Nikon Z8 camera is tough on batteries. I've had many Nikon cameras over the years, but this is the first camera I've had to make sure I have a couple spare batteries in my pocket. After about 600 shots, I have to keep an eye on battery life icon. Otherwise, the Z8 is a great camera. And I can change a battery in the dark in seconds. The SmallRig is the best third party battery for the Z8.

I was a bit concerned about whether this battery would work with my Nikon Z f because some reviewers indicated that it would not work on that camera body. However, I found that it works fine. I charged it up directly with the USB port on the battery, which worked fine. It's a feature that will be very convenient. I haven't tried charging it in-camera yet, or on a separate charger, but I'm confident that it will work well. Very pleased with this product - good value.

Only had it a week but seems to work well

Purchased one and it worked great to the point I got 2 more. Two have now failed. When they work they are great however I believe these batteries have a very short life. I have emailed Smallrig multiple times and have never received a response. My failed batteries are still within the warranty period. Buy these batteries if you want: 1) a battery that can be used ~ 10 times. 2) a battery without a warranty

I'm happy with the performance of this battery. Good for the price compared to authentic Nikon. I bought two on sale and one failed in a little under a year, it would only charge to 40%. After a few emails with SmallRig tech support they issued a replacement which I had in a couple of days. So good tech support. I primarily used the blue/4332 model with my Z8, but I've also used it in my Z6III without issue. I think I read somewhere that SmallRig silently updated the firmware on the 4332 model at some point so that it works with Z6III. I haven't noticed any compatibility issues yet.
