Flotsam: A Caldecott Award Winner

This book is one of our all time favourites at home. With beautiful illustrations and a whimsical story we enjoy the fact there is no text and enjoy talking through each page. Such a personal and unique experience each time. I first found out about this book when using it to teach writing in a mixed ks2 classrooms and have since enjoyed it with a reception class and my own little preschooler at home. Buy the book! You won't regret it.

It’s about a boy that finds a camera. This is good for a kids stor - by Lucas, age 9.This story about a boy who found a camera in the sea.This is the best book u could ever buy! Book is great, as expected. Very disappointed to have witnessed the delivery person not knock on door, instead folded and shoved it through letter box with force.

Used for English lessons and found it great for many different tasks!

This book had such an impact on my 6 year old - when we first ‘read’ it together he actually cried at the ending. Two weeks after we had read it, out of nowhere he started asking more questions about the story. I think the story having no words encourages a deeper level of engagement, and both the story and the drawings are wonderfully inventive. The details of the undersea worlds are particularly magical and stimulated a lot of discussion

Great fantasy book encouring to live creative dreams or make up things

Las imágenes son delicadas, hechas a mano y la calidad del papel muy buena. Es una bonita historia, con elementos de fantasía, sin texto con el que los niños y niñas, o sus madres y madres, podrán relatar lo que le ocurre al protagonista a través de las imágenes por si mismos. No me extraña que su autor haya ganado varios premios.

I did not realize it was a picture book, but I loved the pictures. It reminded me of many things. Going to the beach and searching for "Flotsam" going to the library and discovering fanciful paintings with exquisite details. What starts as a normal day on the beach quickly springs into a visual journey of imagination with so many opportunities to engage children to express what they think is going on. A wonderful book to play "I Spy" with pre-readers as well as entertain those who can read. David Wiesner captures many different emotions with the simplest compositions. You can quit literally read the young boys mind. A lovely book.
