Donner Analog Bass Synthesizer

Is this really an analog synth? Is it even useful at this price? Yes to both. I have not imagined a monophonic analog synth at this price point and was skeptical about how useful it could even be in terms of sound quality. However, you do get that nice analog bass that's perhaps a little buzzy and slightly noisy envelope/amplifiers but it is analog and has some character. The included sequencer patterns are numerous and quite useful, even though they are only 4 bars / 16 steps. To change the sound signature you have to fiddle with the dials - there are no presets. This tracks with the price point and this could be a great synth for beginners and those looking to learn analog synthesis. The filter is a bit lacking, and you won't want to turn up the resonance too high and you'll probably want to smooth out some of the attack post-recording but this thing is fun to jam on. If you are thinking of getting something for bass accompaniment, this can definitely do the trick. It won't be anything fancy, but you do get a nice warm bass tone that's not far off from an electric bass guitar. With a midi sequencer, this could play bass lines for accompaniment quite well. Overall, this is a curious instrument and worth a try if you want to dip your toes into the analog world.

I got the B1 last year during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend and I'm glad I did. I got this on sale for $85 or so and love this thing!! On its own, its not as gritty as a $1000+ original Roland TB-303, nor as raw as the Behringer TD-3 or TD-3-MO, but for the price... With this you get easier programability and you can still get it to squeal pretty nicely by tweaking the accent and some of the other knobs on it. Pair this with different pedals, and it really comes alive. The build quality is sturdy though a little light in the weight department. The note keys are made of a nice material and they are not mushy at all (they remind me of the MPC one +'s pads).

This is an amazing budget synth for beginners. Just got finished my first jam session with it. Sounds great, very easy to set up and start playing immediately. Definitely would recommend this to anyone wanting a budget friendly synth. Only complaint is the pads are a bit wiggly and close together which can make playing slightly awkward. Other than that it's brilliant!
