UPDATE 10-4-17: I received a free replacement clock last week, and it works perfectly. It looks great on my desk and I've already received a few compliments on it. It's not loud at all which is great (I don't like the traditional ticking sound of clocks in a silent office), but if you're listening for it you can hear when the minute changes. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the customer service in receiving a free clock due to the first clock not working, and the product itself is great for the price. I will not update this review any further unless something goes wrong! UPDATE 9-20-17: I received a refund for the clock I originally received which did not work. The seller contacted me and offered to replace the item - I will provide another update once I receive the new clock. ORIGINAL REVIEW 8-24-17: Other reviews stated that numbers had fallen off in transport; while I did not have that issue, the clock was still broken when I received it. I unpacked the clock and inserted the D battery, and it made a "whirring" sound for a few seconds and stopped. It was silent, and the numbers never changed after 10+ minutes. I even went and bought a new pair of D batteries to make sure it wasn't the battery I had, but that made no difference. Returned and will purchase the nearly identical clock I found which costed ~$9 more. I would not recommend this clock.

UPDATE 02/27/26: I have changed offices a few times since I originally purchased this clock in 2013. I'm glad to tell you that the clock is still operating, nearly 13 years later!!! I was looking to see if it was still available because a coworker asked about it. Glad to see its still here. I have changed batteries on average once per year. I haven't noticed the clock numbers falling off. It has survived 3 major moves. Still one of my most often commented office gadgets (of which I'm a collector!) I purchased this clock 1 year ago. It has been a great addition to my office. I like the small amount of noise that it makes actually. Let's me know its working. I've been using the same single D-cell battery since I first turned it on. I think I read somewhere that it'd get 6 months on a battery, well its been a year, still ticking away. As far as time adjustments, it gains about 2 minutes every six months, so its really not bad. My only complaint was how long it took to get it. Since it came from overseas it did seem like it took forever, but I don't remember now exactly how long it was. Seemed like a month, but it could have been less. All in all, I love this clock! Hope you do too.

Bottom line up front, I love this clock. It sat on my desk at work and then my shelf at home when COVID hit. I have received so many compliments on it. And I even gifted one to my Army buddy when he retired and he said it was the best gift he got. I bought it back in 2016 (this review was written in 2023) and it has been running non-stop since - until now. The battery life is great. And it was pretty accurate until about a year ago when it started to slow down. However, just recently I think the gears finally gave out and it started making some loud grinding noises. Being an engineer, I opened it up and looked "under the hood". I think I was able to find the weak link and it is likely just a combination of poor tolerancing coupled with plastic gear teeth that can't stand up to time. But if you are willing to look past the long-term quality issues you can be very happy with this for at least 7 years.

I wanted a unique clock and this certainly fits the bill. I love watching the flaps fall, and being able to see the whole mechanism. It's not real metal, it's some kind of painted plastic. Unless you get really close or touch it you shouldn't notice this. Seems to keep good time - I've had it for a few months and it hasn't gone off by more than 1 minute. It does make a sort of a faint but constant grinding sound - almost like a wind up toy when it's almost out of energy. If I had this on my desk at work it would get really annoying really fast. Instead this is in a room where I'm usually watching tv or listening to music, so it doesn't bother me.

I wanted to love this clock. The retro flip-down look is exactly the aesthetic I was going for on my desk, and the little mechanical click each minute felt like a nice, satisfying throwback at first. That novelty didn't last long, though. After a few hourss of normal use, a couple of the number flaps started sticking and wouldn't flip cleanly anymore. Now I've got digits that hang halfway or refuse to turn unless I physically tap the clock to jar them loose, which shouldn't be necessary for something whose entire function is flipping numbers. Once I looked closer, it became obvious why. The cards themselves feel cheap and flimsy, like thin plastic that just wasn't built to survive the repeated flipping the internal gear mechanism puts it through. For a clock that relies entirely on that motion to tell time, that's a serious design shortfall. The mechanism itself is quiet and the battery operation is simple, so I can't fault it on those fronts. But when the core numbers — the actual reason you buy a flip clock — start breaking down this early, it's hard to see past that. I was hoping for a fun, functional piece of retro décor that would hold up over time, but instead I've got a clock I have to babysit just to get an accurate read. Given how quickly it deteriorated, I can't recommend this at the price point.

Wow! This device took a very long time to ship from China. With that said, it was packed well for the long and arduous trip. Although the box took some damage, the product was undamaged. Kudos to those who packed it. Also, the product is well designed and well manufactured. Extra thank you to the Chinese. The only area where I have a recommendation for is to avoid is placing the device at a bed side. The flip / click inherent in any flip type clock could be a small noise issue to some of those trying to sleep. I have it in my living room as planned and am very happy with it there. I may try it on my night stand just to see if the click that occurs every minute helps my sleep or detracts from my sleep. It is a personality difference. Some people sleep better with a slight background noise and some don't. We'll see. In the meantime, I may order another one for the office. The display is so clear that it works well with my elderly eyes. I definitely recommend this for Grandparents. Once again, my overall review is very positive.

Cool clock, but whatever powers it is noisy. Sounds like there is a small engine running in my apartment since I set the clock up. Has a great aesthetic, but hoping to either get used to the noise or have it smooth out over some use.
