Bought as a gift for a friend with sight loss in one eye. She is thrilled with the magnifying glass. It is light, easy to hold with a handle on both the long and short side and covers a whole page of a book, making reading so much more comfortable. The magnification is excellent.

I have had cheap Fresnel magnifiers before as giveaways. They were unusable rubbish, with deep grooves on one side. This one is different; the only way to tell which side is engraved is by the words "vision area" on one side, showing which way round to hold it. It magnifies well, although naturally text becomes less clear the further away that you hold it to increase the magnification. It's perfectly usable and useful for small print, although you do need to hold it straight on to the text, and there is a bit of light reflection. Being plastic it's very light and easy to hold. The plastic will probably scratch easily, but a soft storage bag is included.

Much easier than using a hand held magnifier, just put it on the book page and your done. It has hand grips so it can be easily moved up down or across. It is the right size for your reading books and you can use it as a bookmark.

It does the job and is lightweight to the point of being flimsy. Not worth the price.

Don't expect this to make it easy to follow a full page. The focus and coverage constantly vary.

The unit needs to be held “just so” in order to get the magnification right but mum finds it does help her to be able to read the newspaper.
