Condensation Damp Control Passive Wall Intake Vent Grille Kit with Filter 100mm (4 inch) Duct for Passive Fresh Air Anti Draught

I was looking for something unobtrusive to install as I needed background ventilation to pass building regulations on a new room. This kit is of good quality and fits together pretty well. The opening mechanism on the internal vent is a little sticky on receipt but a quick spray with WD40 Silicon spray has it running very smoothly. It's easy to install and feels solid enough. The internal unit has a nice foam insert to prevent draughts and insects getting into the house. I was pleased with this kit and would buy one again. A number of the reviews have criticised the lack of instructions, but this is a very simple kit and a competent DIYer will be able to work it out easily.

We made this vent our first choice out of the three that I managed to research because it seemed to tick most of the boxes , firstly the outside vent was directed downwards to negate possible draught,the plastic pipe was telescopic so no cutting The inner vent has adjustable shutter to vary the flow through and the intake was to the side which again negates the possibility of draught and in my opinion looks a bit more aesthetically pleasing.No instructions,there is two small plastic cones and a bit of cord that I am not sure what to do with ,I suspect they are another way of opening the vent .The vent operation was very stiff but this was overcome with a smearing of clear silicon grease making it a lot smoother .The operating slider can be placed on the top or the bottom of the vent ,I ended up putting it at the bottom. In thery you could use a 107 mm core drill I used a 117mm core drill which allows for the hole to not marry up as I did it from 2 sides after first drilling a though pilot hole with a drill that was slightly too big for a snug fit off the core drill pilot drill .The hole is still covered with the slightly bigger drill.Just screw to wall after that and a bead of silicone as required.The outer canopy could have been a bit better secured ,just located via four little pins but both vents were a very good fit on to the pipe ,they are end specific.I put a dab of silicon on the other vent gjust in case it blew away ,so to sum up overall ok, instructions would be nice,Now time will tell whether it solves the condensation.

We had a serious condensation problem in the bedroom (bad enough that I had to squeegee the window every morning and mop it up with a towel which was then dripping wet). It caused black mould on the ceiling and had become a real health hazard. We honestly thought, due to the cheap price, that this vent might, at best, slightly lessen the amount of water on the window. In fact, it has completely solved the problem, even after the extremely cold weather of the last few months. There is now almost no condensation on the window in the morning. Please note that we did also add extra roof insulation at the same time so I guess this might have helped too, although there is a line of thought that roof insulation actually makes condensation worse as the water can’t escape through the ceiling?? If this is the case then this cheap little vent is even more effective! Once the hole was drilled, installation was simple. We are so impressed, we have bought a second one for another room.

My builder fitted it but I am really pleased as it does its job.

Quite effective but £55?! Really? Not good value for money at all.

Good product, very easy to install in an existing vent opening. The kit also comes with a 100mm diameter pvc pipe for a new opening if required. Verdict: EXCELLENT

Only just delivered. Looks OK and reasonably straightforward, however some basic info/installation details would have been nice.

Lo hemos instalado, se puede regular la apertura y tiene un diseño bonito. Cantiene un filtro el que evita ruidos etc..

Un semplice tubo telescopico con due testate, di mediocre qualità, prezzo esagerato e nessuna istruzione per il montaggio. Sula reale utilità dovrò aspettare di vedere se ritorna la muffa al muro.

Achat de 2 kits / novembre 2018. Ce système d'aération est une bonne idée. Par contre le diaphragme est difficile à manipuler avec le bouton extérieur. L'épaisseur des tubes pour traverser la paroi est à mon avis un peu faible et le plastique utilisé de qualité très moyenne. En serrant les vis de la buse extérieure, j'ai éclaté le plastique. Heureusement, il est possible de racheter cette pièce à part. Dommage qu'on ne la trouve pas en ton "pierre" pour cette taille (100mm). A voir dans le temps, mais j'ai quand même fait 2 trous de 105mm dans ma maison ... J'espère que ce dispositif tiendra dans le temps.
