WDT Flick Tool

This is an incredibly satisfying WDT tool with impeccable design. The fact they opted for magnets instead of spring loaded is genius and I have full confidence this device will last me a very long time. The two mounting options of magnetic vs stand like a pencil is very convenient for multiple applications. It's got some weight to it which makes it feel quality too.

Really good wdt too. Really nice build quality and functionality. The magnetic part is a plus because it sticks right to the side of my espresso machine. The retract function protects the needles and it even comes with additional replacements.

I’ll be honest—I didn’t think I needed the Subminimal Flick WDT Tool. It’s usually marketed for espresso prep, and I use it solely for pour over. But after trying it out, I’m pleasantly surprised at how much more consistent my brews have become. 🛠️ Top-Notch Build Quality: This isn’t your average piece of coffee gear. Its slim form makes it easy to tuck away, but I honestly leave it out because it looks so clean and intentional. ☕ Fantastic Ground Distribution: Even though it’s designed for espresso, it works wonders with my pour over routine. Distributing grounds evenly before brewing has noticeably reduced channeling and helped me achieve more balanced extractions. It’s not magic, but it’s pretty darn close. 🧐 Is It Essential? Probably not. But is it useful? Absolutely. It’s one of those accessories that feels like a luxury add-on but ends up earning its place in the daily routine. If you're into coffee and appreciate gear that’s both functional and beautiful, the Flick won’t disappoint—even if espresso isn’t your thing.

I knew when I bought this that it was probably an unnecessary upgrade over standard WDT tools. It functions the same as others but with a bit of a higher price tag, but that price tag is worth it in my opinion. Tool comes with both a stand and a magnet to mount it on the side of your espresso machine and I’ve personally come to use the stand for the most part. Cleaning has been a bit of a challenge, I’ve noticed it’s hard to get grounds out of the sheath part that surrounds the needles when they retract but my solution has been solved by a simple turn into a microfiber towel. It’s honestly a great size, fits in your hand perfectly and feels natural to retract. The outside is a solid plastic, and the thumb press is metal which feels very high quality.

This is an awesome gadget. Sure it breaks up any clumping and distributes the coffee nicely like a WDT should. What I really love is the retractability and that I can hang it magnetically. The build quality is very nice and the compact size is a plus. This works well and I am very pleased with my purchase.

The quality of the WDT tool is great, super sleek design and has some weight to it so it feels high end. Not only does it look and work great, its super fun to use! Just press the button and the needles come out, then flick it back and they pop back in! It comes with extra needles if something happens and also a stand to hold it upright on your coffee bar. If you are short on space, it is also magnetic and can attach to the side of your machine. It is worth the price and it works so much better than the cheap WDT I was using before that I can say with confidence that it will have a permanent spot on my coffee bar!

Positive experience with my first wdt. Pros: retractable, comes with a magnetic plate (optional sticker on the back of magnet) to hold the wdt, and economical but still aesthetic + functional. Would recommend.

Really cool gadget, does work really well in distributing and breaking clumps. The flicking aspect worked great for about 7months. started breaking down slowly into the 8th month where the back switch button popped off our and was sticking out weird. Opened it up with the tools provided and tried to see what's going on, but it was so hard to put back together that I damaged two sets of needles before I finally gave up.

This is a great coffee tool. I like the opening and closing action of the wires and I like the anti roll bevel, as well as the all metal construction. Top notch.

I bought the Subminimal Flick WDT Espresso Distribution Tool to improve puck preparation on my Sage Bambino Plus, and it has proven to be an excellent piece of kit. The biggest advantage is the clever flick mechanism. With a simple press, the needles extend for use and then retract neatly back into the body for storage. This makes it far more practical than many WDT tools where the needles are permanently exposed and easy to bend or damage. Build quality is excellent. The tool feels solid, precise and well engineered, with a premium finish that reflects the Subminimal brand. The needles are thin enough to break up clumps effectively without over-agitating the coffee bed, which helps create a much more even distribution before tamping. In use it is quick and intuitive. A few light passes through the grounds noticeably improves consistency and reduces clumping, resulting in a more even puck and more predictable extraction. For anyone trying to dial in espresso or improve shot consistency, it is a very helpful addition to the workflow. The retractable design also makes it easy to keep on the counter without worrying about damaging the needles, which is something that can be a problem with traditional WDT tools. Overall this is a thoughtfully designed, high-quality distribution tool that makes puck preparation easier and more consistent.
