I recommend this book to any Scot who has read "The Gruffalo" in English. It is wonderfully translated, and makes you feel all warm inside! I laughed out loud several times and have never been prouder of my native tongue! It's not in the Robert Burns type of Scots, but in the dialect of today, which makes it relevant and funny at the same time. Kids AND adults will love it, it is a familiar story to most, and read out loud makes it even better! Buy it!!

This is so good! I've read it to my baby from 6 weeks and she is delighted every time we read it. Can't bring myself to read the original version as the Scots is so fun! I can put a range of accents on and it taught me a few Scottish terms I didn't know. I love saying to my daughter "it's tod!!" so funny. She really loves this. It's a shame the other stories aren't up to scratch but this is well worth the purchase!

Sorry if your not Scots(re' title) But don't let it put you off! Well you might but you can also get the full English version too! Both are equally just as good,kids will love it, but as a Scottish....Ahem!....adult I loved this book!!! I can indulge myself in the mither tongue and love the recaction of my kids whlst I am reading it. I would highly recommend this to any Scots as they will-as I did-love telling a beautiful story to their weans. And recommend anyone to by the English equivilant if the Scots is not to your liking.

I love this book, purchased for myself so that my Scottish boyfriend could read it to me and I could swoon over his accent. Might have to get him to record it so I can listen next time he is deployed! My 3 year old loves it too, and giggles at the different sounds. Love this!

What fun! I fell in love with the "English" version while subbing at our local preschool. I had to have both versions. I have been practicing the Scot version for a read-aloud at our local preschool. The preschool teacher has most of Julia Donaldson books and a couple of the DVDs for the class. The preschoolers love the books and the DVDs. To my delight, I was already familiar with one of Julia Donaldson's books "Super Worm." Another preschool to second grade delight. Thanks!
