Power Practical Luminoodle USB Switch and Dimmer Switch Female to Male Button On Off with Wireless Remote Control

I was scratching my head one morning, trying to think of something I needed. That's difficult at times... especially as I didn't want to spend more than 20 quid. Then I had a eureka moment. From the deep recesses of my gadget-driven brain I suddenly hankered after a device that would allow me to dim USB LED lights. "I wonder if there is such a thing?" — was the second thought. In no time at all I spotted the Luminoodle USB Switch and Dimmer (what a strange name though... Dimmer!!!). Anyway, it seemed like a decent way to spend less than £15 in my humble opinion. I had actually forgotten I had ordered it, such was the frivolity of the original need... but it was in my basket and purchased and I rapidly moved on to more pressing matters. Well, in almost no time at all it arrived. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the cable, a nice soft white flatish cable that oozed quality. I also noticed the unusual USB male plug part. Normally with USB plugs you take the initial 50/50% chance as to whether you are inserting it the right way (i.e. the blue plastic bit that fills the void of the female connection) — even though it's a 50/50% chance I always get it wrong first time and have to rotate the USB plug again to make the connection. Not with this clever little plug though... it can go in either way around so now us USB plug-fitters get it right first time every time! Now that's progress indeed. So I am already starting to love this chance purchase. The ON/OFF and +/- buttons do exactly as expected... the dimmer really works. Then you notice that it also comes with a wireless remote control. Well, in my opinion, a clever mind has gone into the manufacture and design of this small gadget. I haven't tested it in a snow-storm, or under water yet... but maybe that'd be cruel anyway. Bottom line is I LOVE IT! IT'S A BRILLIANT little, will defo come in handy, USB accessory. I might even be ordering another one soon... ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (21st Jan 2024): I was recently asked a question as to whether a single Luminoodle wireless remote could control more than one device. I decided to test and double-check that it would work. I can confirm (see video) that with the Luminoodles I own, a single wireless remote control CAN control more than one Luminoodle device, which adds to the incredible versatility of this great little USB device.

Cheesy Harry Potter reference aside, I bought this for my Luminoodle LED light set which I found to be overly bright upon first purchase. This little dimmer switch claimed to have numerous (20, if memory serves correct) settings for brightness. So, does it live up to to the hype? Yes, why yes it does. There's a handy (albeit very small and thin) remote control for the USB switch which allows you to customise the brightness incrementally as you watch the TV and as a nice touch, it even remembers the last setting you selected long after you switch off the TV and turn it back on. I am very happy with my purchase and it's improved my TV watching experience tenfold. For added effect, try yelling out "Lumos!" or "Expecto Patronum!" at the top of your lungs and wave your remote frantically as if fighting off invisible monsters as you work the remote. You, your friends & your family will all have a great laugh about it as the men in white coats escort you to a mental hospital. Worth it.

Unsure why it was really necessary to have extra remote, but gives so much more functionality to tv back lights from comfort of your arm chairs

I brought an LED light for my home bar but felt it was just to bright , I came across this & it's perfect , now I can have the light set perfectly, the controller is hidden behind all the bottles on my bar so the fact it has a remote is just brilliant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wanted this for a 5v USB 80mm fan that I installed into the rear of my A/V cabinet. I took a gamble on this as I had 2 issues... one was switching and the other a noisy fan, the remote functionality was a bonus and even if the dimming functionality didn't work it should still act as a basic switch. Hooked it up to the fan and it all works perfectly. I now have a fan I can control remotely if needed and the dimming function has reduced the fan speed and hence the noise. For anyone else wanting to use it this way... Please note that the low & med settings are not enough to trigger the fan to work (you can see it move but it cannot break the inertia to set it spinning) however, the + & - buttons allow a greater degree of control. I set it to the highest speed then went down until I could not hear the fan, activated the switch to check it spins when turned on et voila.

I'm using this on an LG 24 inch ips monitor standing by the white wall. The brightness level is set around the "mid" level and it's fantastic. Just bare in mind to keep 3-4 inch distance from the edges when you attach the stripe.

The quality of the USB switch itself is great. The remote, however, does seem cheap, and looks like a generic remote you would get with many cheap devices and came with one of the switches ‘permanently depressed’, although still working. The main problem is that the switch was bought to go with a string of LED lights of a different brand. These LED lights have there own dimmer built in, which then confuses the Lumidoodle switch, so it doesn’t work. Shame. Probably works great with their own brand led’s.

Love this dimmer. It was easy to connect and use. Love the remote, only wish it had a lanyard. The preset and variable dimming functions all work well. Remote does not need direct line of sight to function in my experience. Using the dimmer with a string of string of Woods LED lights meant for indoors, tents, and outdoors. Works really well, even when a second string of lights is daisy chained to the first set.

I’ve been using this with the light strip on the back of my color grading monitor for a few months now and love it. Pros: Easy to install Wireless remote works great I like the 3 preset low, medium, high brightness settings and that you can finely adjust in between Cons Sometimes when pressing the off button the lights will flash but stay on instead of turning off. The only way to get it off from there is to press the ON button and then OFF again. I believe this is because the strip thinks it turned itself off when it didn’t.

Fantastico questo interruttore per luci LED dotato anche di telecomando. L'ho usato per personalizzare la mia postazione per Console ed è fantastico! Peccato solo che non se ne trovino più e chi come me è riuscito ad acquistarne qualche pezzo è fortunato. Spero lo rimettano in vendita perchè nel caso io ne comprerei altri. Stra-Consigliato!!!

Von Anfang an hatte ich vor, diesen Dimmer für sehr ungewöhnliche Zwecke zu verwenden: - Als Dimmer nicht für LEDs, sondern für eine Krippenbeleuchtung, die an USB angeschlossen werden sollte. Nachdem die Birnchen der Krippenbeleuchtung mit 5 V (USB) deutlich zu stark leuchten, brauchte ich eine Lösung, um den "Saft" zu begrenzen. Es hat auf Anhieb perfekt geklappt. Eine dimmbare Krippenbeleuchtung mit Fernbedienung ist der Hammer! - Ich habe einen Notebook-Kühler, dessen Ventilatoren nur eine Einschaltstufe kennen, also ständig mit voller Kraft laufen und deswegen auf Dauer ziemlich laut und störend sind. Hier ist Luminoodle als Lüftersteuerung im Einsatz und erledigt auch diese Aufgabe perfekt. Nun kann ich den Notebook-Lüfter in vielen Stufen steuern und dazu noch die Steuerung in Griffweite auf dem Schreibtisch plazieren.
