MarmotMen's Guides Down Jacket

Very Nice
Usually, I would have gotten the black, but I thought I would go a "little crazy" and get the tangelo (Orange), and I'm glad I did. It is bright, but it doesn't look like I'm wearing Hi-viz gear. This coat is filled with down and synthetic fibers and is very warm. Yet, it can collapse down to a smaller size for packing. I got the XL, which is my standard size, and it fits me well. The jacket's construction is good, and I love the fact that all pockets are zippered. That is a massive plus for me as I am a person who uses a jacket's pockets and then "tosses" the jacket at a destination only to find that something fell out of them later on. I wear cheater glasses, and I can't tell you how many I have lost due to this poor habit of mine. A zippered pocket eliminates this. All of the pockets are nice and deep, another sign of quality. There is a chest pocket, but its opening is "hidden" with the coat's main zipper. This arrangement is the first time I have seen this arrangement. I like this function because it is more protected than a standard vest pocket. What is my favorite feature? The shell material, the down feathers? Both are wonderful, but my favorite feature is the good zippers. All are very smooth and don't catch. The main zipper is beefy and effortless to use. I have had decent brand X coats in the past, but their zippers made them a pain. After a short while, they would start to stick, drag, or become difficult to engage. Zippers are inexpensive, so why do some brand X coats do this? The Marmot's zipper will ensure that I will be wearing this coat years from now. Great job, Marmot!

A level of comfort that i'd expect from this brand, It's perfect!
The Marmot Mens jacket is perfect for cooler climates, I ordered this ahead of a trip I'm taking up north, the sizing is perfect for me. The jacket is going to be great for traveling with as it rolls up quite small and will fit in the bottom of my backpack quite nicely.I wore the jacket around my house the other day as it's still way too warm out to wear it out and about, but it feels very comfortable, it's also really lightweight. It certainly keeps the warmth in. I like this jacket as it's not overly packed full of filling. The material it's made out of feels soft and breathable, I'm not sure if it's waterproof though, I've not tested that, but it definitely feels windproof.Another great feature of this jacket is the fact that it has 3 good sized pockets, two on the sides and one for your cell phone. You won't run out of space anytime soon. Speaking of pockets, you can roll this up in such a manner that when you're not wearing it, you can roll it up and stuff it into one of it's own pockets! so, it definitely is great for traveling with. The price point is high for a jacket, but as this is a Marmot you truly do get a very good quality jacket that will last you several seasons.

Comfortable and Well Made
This is a very nice puffy down jacket. The jacket is filled with 700-fill down blend: 80% recycled down and 20% Ceiba Flower down. The jacket can compress for packing. There are 3 pockets: two zippered hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket. I appreciate the zippered pockets because I'm always concerned that something will slip out. The zippers are good quality and should be durable. At first, I couldn't find the chest pocket, it's hidden. Luckily the listing showed a photo of the chest pocket, it's right alongside the main zipper. I like an inside pocket, but the chest pocket on the outside is probably a better way to go so you don't need to open the jacket to access the pocket. There's a drawstring on the bottom and elastic at the wrists to help keep the cold out. The jacket arrived in a large box which I really appreciated because it didn't compress the down. My size is typically large and in line with the size chart, which is what I ordered, and it fits perfectly. The sleeves and length were perfect. I'm still a few months away from the real cold to test it out for warmth, but I have no doubt that it will do an excellent job keeping me warm. As with other Marmot products, the quality and workmanship are excellent. I really like this jacket, and it has my recommendation.

Excellent warmth and lightweight
Although I haven't used this jacket in very cold weather, I have no doubt that it's going to perform really well. It has a generous amount of fill so it's a thick insulating layer without being heavy at all. I feel a bit like a puff ball wearing it because it's so light and puffy. The internal pocket opens from the outside of the jacket, while the inside of the pocket is on the warm side, and it's large enough for a large mobile phone and/or a wallet. This is a great idea so the jacket doesn't need to be opened to access the pocket. The jacket also has the two standard external pockets which are a good size and insulated.I have long arms so I went with the large for sleeve length, but could have done a size medium for the body, however the fit is not bad at all and there's a cinching cord around the bottom that adjusts on each side for pulling the jacket closed at the bottom to keep the cold air from coming up from the bottom. It makes the jacket fit better, and is essential for extra cold climates.

Very light but warm and comfortable.
I finally had a chance to wear this during a two night stay at Flagstaff. It dipped to mid 40s at night and stayed around mid 60s during the day. This definitely kept me from getting cold. As long as I had my hands in the pockets, I was pretty comfortable. After a good 10-15 minutes, I can feel my body heat being retained in the jacket. Although it blocks the draft well, I think I will need to layer it with a sweater if the temp is to drop to the 30s.I measure 40 around the chest area and go between sizes S-M. I ordered a medium and had a bit of wiggle room. You can probably size down if you want a more tailored fit. You can easily roll and stuff this in your suitcase, should you need to. It wouldn't take much space. They style is simple, yet very functional. What a great piece to have.
