I have been a diabetic for 30 yrs and done well. I took routine meds then managed any elevations in my BS with sliding scale. I could tell when my bs went up by the way I felt. My HGA1C has never got got above 6.5.I decided to get this one, it was less a costly. I bought one, borrowed one and used my old . This is scary. Last night I got very sick. I tested this one BS 144. Then I used my old one 199. I was 199. I took sliding scale insulin by the old one. I stared feeling better. DON'T BUY. DANGEROUS.

Meter was defective. Customer service finally called to trouble shoot. One Touch is replacing the meter.

The device works well, once you figure out how to use it, and therein lies my complaint. 1. Why are directions printed on both sides of a huge sheet of paper and folded like a map? This is very unwieldy (both to spread out and follow initially, as well as for referring back to later) so I thought to myself, I'll just cut individual pages out and make a booklet myself. Foiled again because the numbered pages run horizontally on one side of the paper and vertically on the other. Really?? Gave it only 3 stars because the directions printed this way are VERY user unfriendly leading to a lot of wasted time figuring out how it works. You can look up a YouTube video that shows the basics but does not address a lot of other information, and you really shouldn't have to. One-Touch, just an FYI, make a booklet please. 2. One other note, despite claiming it contains everything you need in the kit, you'll have to purchase control solution ($13.49) to make sure it's working properly so you can trust the results. Will probably take another week or two to get that.
