This motor is a game changer for a fishing kayak. What it does best is trolling. Heading hold and cruise control are some of the best features IMO. Using just the remote saves money on the pedals and works great. Anchor lock also works great, saves time not dealing with anchors. The motor can be jumpy at times when a large adjustment is needed, even with the settings lowered all the way, just be ready for those sudden movements when standing. There is a learning curve to figure out how best to use all the features but once dialed in it becomes effortless. There are 2 main areas it needs improvements to justify the costs. 1. Stowing system and transport. The rope system works great and is light weight, but this is an area the engineers can focus on to improve things greatly. Frankly, for the asking price, I SHOULD be able to keep the motor safely in the stowed position for transport and not have to uninstall/install it every time. If the cost was less, I wouldn't even care, but it is the biggest area of improvement I feel was missed at this price point. 2. Lack of installation plates for multiple kayaks. Again, for the cost, I had to build my own mounting plate + SS hardware to mount it to my kayak which was NOT factored into the pricing and should have been. If you are not going to manufacture systems for customers, then drop the price and it becomes just fine. Don't purchase this at full asking price, wait for a sale like I did, and pick it up for less if your kayak doesn't have a mounting system ready for it to help lower the burden. Neither of these issues should stop you from considering this motor, it absolutely solved many of my goals for efficiency/improvements on my fishing kayak. Love this thing.

This is an excellent motor for a kayak. It's light enough to easily install and uninstall and has everything you need to equip your kayak and take your fishing up a notch.

This thing is great. No, it's not going to set any speed records but everything else it does perfectly. I love the spot lock and the wireless pedals. Operating it while on the water is a breeze. If you have the money, there's no better motor on the market.
