A brilliant story!
Colleen Hoover never disappoints and Cheesus Christ, what a book this was! Without Merit was so much more than I expected. This was the first book I picked this year and I am already off to a great start. I absolutely enjoyed this book and Merit's quirks along with the rest of the characters. Colleen Hoover makes sure that every single character is given importance and that stole my heart. Every character in this book is so memorable. Merit is a teenager with issues, family issues, trust issues, just a whole lot of issues, just like her whole family. Reading about her going through her day to day routine was interesting and saddening at times. When one thinks of a family, you think of kind loving and caring but not in the Voss household, things are much different and definitely interesting. When Merit comes across Sagan everything she thinks she knows and feels goes to shit, she meets the guy who makes her feel more things than she could ever imagine and it’s incredible to watch. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. The story was intense, but also had it's comic moments too. And to find the balance and write - I call that a masterpiece! I am not sure if there will ever be a book two, but I would love for it to be because there are some questions that I would love the author to pursue! :D

A rather disappointing read.
I just couldn’t like this book. But thanking the books like this because it’s such books, I believe, made the author write far better ones and it shows in my all time favourites from the author. The writing is choppy. It seems lost the entire time. The characters seem confused (I know they are young adults young enough to be confused with everything and everything) but it was just too much confusion. I tried to like them and I know their points of view are valid but it felt like they were just not ready to not to be confused. Now I am confused 😐 I just couldn’t get the relationship between the main characters, their parents’ cranky relationships, endless comparisons between the twin characters, the lacking chemistry and the not so convincing bond between the characters. I seriously tried hard but failed to understand much about the characters or the story. Definitely one of my least favourite Colleen Hoover books.

5 Stars!!!
This book is nothing like any of Colleen's previous books!! Her stories are never the same, however this was pure YA rather than romance!! Without Merit is the story of Merit Voss. It's coming of age story and deals with her dysfunctional family.. When i started the book, i really didnt like many of the characters in the Voss family coz I got to know them from Merit's POV... However as the secrets were revealed, and as Merit's character evolved, I kind of understood each character and the reason for the family being dysfunctional!! "Maybe that's the root of a lot of family issues. It isn't actually the issues people are hung up about for so long. It's that no one has the courage to take the first step in talking about the issues" Colleen's writing and the way she writes characters have always been amazing and this book is no exception!!! When i finished this book, i couldnt get over the Voss family... The writing and characters didnt leave my mind for a while..

Not your typical COLLEEN HOOVER
I won't recommend this to you if this is your first Colleen Hoover book, nonetheless this book did not disappoint. It was interesting, the characters were intresting, I really hoped somethings panned out differently but that's fine

Absolutely lovable
I absolutely love Colleen Hoover... She always writes something that will stay with you forever as well as while reading you would be emotionally invested in it , same goes for this novel too 💜💜.. The family bonds and the teenage life as well as the mental issues we suffer that we ignore are so beautifully bought together that at the end you have a warm feeling towards the book 🥺💗

I am a massive Colleen Hoover fan but for some reason waited a while to read this book. M”now I am annoyed I did because it was amazing. Loved the story. Merit is such a unique character. There isn’t another book out there like this. Colleen did it again as usual. Hurry up with your next book.

✨ Book Review ✨ Without Merit by Colleen Hoover 🐕 🫶 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Merit lives in a very chaotic family- the Voss family. She has a twin sister that looks exactly like her. They share their looks but have two very different personalities. One is popular and intelligent, the other is the shy poor thing. Merit holes her family's deepest secrets. She accumulated these secrets over the years until one day she explodes (with a letter). 😧 I love everything about this book for sure. From the characters to the strange setting and to the conversations that have a deeper meaning. In the book you see the characters building up and how they come to realisation and acceptance. You see the importance of taking care of friendships and relationships in general. And you come to a conclusion to look at things from a different perspective and point of view (the ones who read it will understand this clearly😉). The book has a deeper message that every reader should know about and extract the message by themselves. 🫶 Beautiful quotes💖🥹 -“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.” -“If silence were a river, your tongue would be the boat.” -“So many people dream of living in a house with a white picket fence. Little do they know, there's no such thing as a perfect family, no matter how white the picket fence is.” I’d recommend this book to anyone who never read anything written by Colleen Hoover, because this was my first time reading a book by COHO and I genuinely enjoyed it. 🥰
