The sickliest looking cashews I’ve ever seen!(Update: “and tasted”!)
Update: It took me awhile after buying these to get around to using them. When I tasted them I couldn’t believe how bad they tasted. I wasn’t able to return them or even contact the seller so tried thoroughly washing them repeatedly, soaking in salt water, and rinsing them repeatedly hoping to get the nasty taste out. They taste like chemicals, freezer burn, and maybe “old-ness” altogether. I made a what is a normally delicious simple “cashew cream” recipe and had to throw it out because it tasted terrible. None of the other ingredients could cover the yucky chemical taste. It is so sad that this company would sell such a horrible product and waste people’s money. I’m out nearly $60 for something obviously not safe to eat! These cashews look like “grade d” quality! The last ones I bought elsewhere were plain light/white in color but these literally look like they have a disease and the packaging is a little disturbing too. They were the cheapest I could find and I thought “a cashew was a cashew” but there are definitely different qualities to even cashews. You get what you pay for! I advise you pay a little more and get some that are a better quality. Now I’m stuck with a huge bag of cashews that don’t look remotely appetizing and I’m almost afraid to use. I’m adding a picture of the difference between Bayside Candy company’s cashews(yellow bag) and another brand. The other brand’s are fresh and taste good but Bayside’s stink and taste terrible no matter how much they are washed. The picture is a little troubling too, kind of like a frog on its last leg. I have to throw out the whole 10 pound bag😞

Raw cashew pieces
good quality for the price, I am still to find fresh cashews whether in store or online. This order works well for cashew milk.

Good cashews for cashew milk
It was a better quality and cleaner than the former ones I bought from another place and for a much better price. But I stopped buying it because the base price went up in the middle of my purchase. And when it started from scratch it went up even more. The difference wasn't much and it was still way cheaper than what I had paid at the other place, but in principle I want to be in control of what I pay for things. I would rather pay way more and know that I am dealing with honest people then to pay less and not know who I am dealing with.

Beware - tastes moldy!
I bought these for making milk, cream, "cheesecake," etc. since I don't eat dairy. Since I bought in bulk, I immediately put half of these in the freezer. I love making key lime cashew "cheesecake." The first thing I made with these tasted moldy. I couldn't believe it, and wondered if it was the walnut-coconut crust that gave the taste. The next thing I made was chocolate-coated pumpkin cheesecake pops. Labor intensive! I ended up throwing these away. I had in the meantime been learning about the dangers of mycotoxins (from mold). One last try, though: I tried those I had frozen, just in case the cashews I had stored in the cabinet had gone moldy while at room temperature. Made cherry "ice cream" cake. Again - moldy taste. Cannot return them because 1) cannot return grocery products, and 2) it's been too long since I bought them. So, I must throw these away and write off the cost along with all the ingredients wasted. I will be looking for a local source of raw cashews and only buying what I need each time. Costly lesson learned.
