Opal 2.0 Ultra without Side Tank

Updated version of my previous opal, which bit the dust when I took the filter off and let something pass thru the tubing. I love that it tells you when to sanitize and descale so you don’t forget! Makes the perfect ice. I used my side tank from my previous machine. Ease of use - Super easy to clean, follow the manual. The level of noise is mostly low. Considering how much ice I use it is an exceptional value!

We’ve had the Opal ice maker for a while now and it has been great. The nugget ice is exactly what we wanted—soft, chewable, and perfect for drinks. It makes ice quickly and keeps up really well for everyday use and when we have people over. One feature I really appreciate is that the machine tells you when it’s time to clean it. That takes the guesswork out of maintenance and helps keep everything running smoothly. The cleaning process is simple and straightforward. Overall it’s been reliable, easy to use, and produces excellent ice. If you like nugget ice, this machine is definitely worth it.

After hyping this thing up for years I finally decided I needed it. Well this thing is absolutely overrated and overpriced. Requires way too much maintenance with the ice just to keep it from clumping and even then it still clumps. I’ve tried it all. While the ice is great, it’s just a hassle and not worth it. I would value this at $250 max with no special. I bought this on Amazon prime day for $399, they dropped it to $350 a week later and did not refund difference. I don’t recommend this product. It also does not produce the amount of ice that it claims.

I really love GE Opal nugget ice maker. The ice is small and crunchy. I don’t really pay attention to the noise. I have an autistic child so my noise tolerance is amazingly not noticeable. Iykyk. This is my second unit. The first one I did not know to use Distilled water so I am doing a lot of descaling and cleaning. This new unit though seems like I am sanitizing and descaling every week, which seems like a lot, but I don’t mind if it will keep the unit up and working for a long time. We are really pushing this machine though with a household of six people and it’s keeping up with the ice demand.

Love this icemaker! Quite a process to get it cleaned and ready to use but I understand why. Just realize that you will not remove it from the box and immediately begin making ice. Speaking of removing from the box...it is very well packed! Lucky you if you are young and strong or have a person in your home who is strong. I am an 80 year old woman slightly over 5 feet so it took a while to unpack! All of the effort involved in getting this machine ready to start producing has been worth it. Adhere to manufacture's suggestion to use only distilled water. A note regarding the noise some people have complained about...not my experience! Very quiet.

I love this ice maker. This is the newer model and it does have some better features but the fan is SOOOO loud after getting out ice. It makes ice fast so the fan isn’t on a super long time but it is louder than my fridge when it is on. The old version is not like that at all.

We had the version 1.0 until our house completely burned down and we lost everything. Loved it. We were finally able to buy this as a replacement. We decided on the white one because it would go with our kitchen motif. When I ordered it the delivery date was a 4 day delivery. But later on the order date, I received a notice that UPS had it in its possession and the delivery date was the next day. I thought, sure, I've had notices like that before that later changed into several days shipping. But the next day, I checked UPS tracking and sure enough it was enroute to my local UPS and would be delivered by 5 pm that day. Sure enough, 5:15 pm and it was on my front door. Super impressed with the seller. As to a review, what can I say that hasn't been said before. I did due my due diligence by Googling "what's the best nugget ice machine today" and the GE Profile machine came out on top. Glad we got it.

I purchased this item for Christmas for my wife. On Christmas day we set the ice machine up for the first time, and not only did it have a small dent in it, it leaked horribly out the bottom. I understand that sometimes this type of thing can happen. Dealing with GE about this issue is the basis for a one star review. If you have a day job it is difficult to deal with GE. They are not open on the weekends and they are on east coast time. Also it took nearly 15 days to finally get to a point where I could return the machine. GE wanted pics and Video of the issue sent to an account that would not except the email due to the size of the file. Then GE wanted me to perform tests on the machine and replace certain parts all while trying to send more videos and pics to the same sub standard email account. I dealt with three different people during this encounter and was finally dismissed by GE and told to return the appliance to Amazon. Thank goodness Amazon makes it so easy. Would not recommend. I'm sure that if you get a working model it would be great. The ice maker actually looks really nice butt God himself help you if you ever have to deal with GE customer service.
