#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The renowned author of The Women vividly explores the intricate bonds of sisterhood and family. “[Kristin] Hannah [brings] snap and a lot of warmth to a familiar lesson: that contentment comes from accepting each other’s flaws.”— People Years ago, Meghann Dontess made a terrible choice that cost her everything, including the love of her sister, Claire. Now, Meghann is a highly successful attorney who doesn’t believe in intimacy—until she meets the one man who can change her mind. Claire Cavenaugh has fallen in love for the first time in her life. As her wedding day approaches, she prepares to face her strong-willed older sister. Reunited after more than two decades apart, these two women who believe they have nothing in common will try to become what they never were: a family. Tender, funny, bittersweet, and moving, Between Sisters skillfully explores the profound joys and sorrows shared by sisters, the mistakes made in the name of love, and the promise of redemption—all beautifully told by acclaimed author Kristin Hannah. “Enormously entertaining . . . Hannah has a nice ear for dialogue and a knack for getting the reader inside the characters’ heads.”— The Seattle Times “Hannah writes of love with compassion and conviction.”—Luanne Rice Review: a good read - This book touches all the areas of family life - the good and the bad. Brings smiles and tears! Excellent. Review: Family, scars, guilt, redemption! - This is one of Kristin Hannah's early books and it's easy to see how much her writing has advanced since publishing this book in 2003. She threw in characters that took a while to figure out who they were and why they were there. However, all that aside, this is a gripping and emotional story of two sisters who faced traumatic circumstances in their young lives and came through, albeit not without scars. Meghann Dontess is a successful divorce attorney who has earned the nickname of The Ice Queen. She is brutal when representing her clients. But she's haunted by a past she can't escape. Even after twenty years of therapy, she can't let go. She is flawed, riddled with guilt, and determined to keep it all under the wraps of a confident business woman. Her only release is picking up a strange man to spend a few minutes of intimacy with, only as long as it never involves feelings. Claire is Meghann's younger sister, the one she'd been responsible for, the one she abandoned. This story unfolds in a gripping way as the two sisters dance around their relationship, their past and an uncertain future. Is Meghann the lucky one because she's been able to find monetary success, or is Claire the lucky one because she's found family? It's hard to say. They each have their scars. So what can bring them together to return to the deep love they truly have for each other? What happens is heartbreaking and I shed more than a few tears. If you love a gripping family saga with so many characters interwoven, you will definitely want to read this book!

Amazing
What an amazing author! I was spellbound with this book. There was laughter and tears and hard times. I loved how Claire and Meghan were able to put the past behind them and rekindle the love that had been lost years before.

Excellent read
I could see myself in a number of characters . Each one was was well-defined almost to the point of being a Caricature of a personality trait: too sweet and good, too obsessive and bitchy, etc. But the story draws the reader in and keeps you Turning the pages. Predictably everyone finds true love and learns the important life lesson of learning to express it.

This was just ok for me
I really enjoy Kristin Hannah’s books because they are so detailed. This book fell short when the backdrop is in such a small town yet Joe and Meghan don’t know each other? Or know about each other?

lovely characters and an easy read
I very much enjoyed the characters of the interplay between the sisters and ultimately the lovely outcome, even though it was perhaps a bit predictable. It was an easy and enjoyable read perfect for the beach.

This is a beautiful read. I never had a sister so it was even more special to read about love, loss, fears, emotions on a sisterly level. Great read, difficult to put down.
