This is by far the best introduction to the Clash. It allows the listener to hear Joe Strummer and co at their very best. Relive the Old Skool Cool.
First had this compilation back in 1988 on tape; played it to death. Years later, I can relive the a little sample of the wide range of skills and good music Joe, Mick, Paul and Topper put together over what was quite a short amount of time. Excellent selection of tracks.

This was the first Clash best of record released, and it's not bad.Volume 2 was never released,but still a must for Clash lover's or rock 'n' roll fans. :)

Great collection and arrived quickly.

It is such a perfect CD set. I love having it on CD since my car still uses CDs..lol. Great sound, great order in the set. Makes me less productive since all I want to do is stay in my car and listen to both CD's. Haha! Perfect Clash CD for new or old school fans. Great addition to the collection.

Eine wirklich großartige Compilation, nicht chronologisch geordnet (zum Glück, weil das zum Langeweilefaktor würde...). Alles Bekannte ist drauf auf diesem Doppel-Vinyl, aber auch Singles wie "Bankrobber" (großartiger Roots-Reggae-Track) und "I Fought The Law". Der Klang ist superb, was in der Zeit der Erstveröffentlichung bei anderen Scheiben nicht immer der Fall war (dem digitalen Remasterig der Zeit geschuldet). Macht wirklich Spaß, zuzuhören, auch wenn man die Originalalben ein wenig tot genudelt hat, bekommt man hier wieder große Freude am Sound der Clash. "Hits Back" ist eine ebenfalls superbe Compilation, sozusagen eine Erweiterung dieser nun besprochenen. "Hits Back" besticht durch Tim Young's Mastering und ist chronologisch geordnet. Obwohl klanglich vielleicht ein wenig überzeugender, fällt letzt genannte bei mir immer noch ein wenig hinter "The Story Of The Clash Volume 1" zurück. Sie ist einfach so unglaublich... perfekt. Wenn ihr hier noch eine gut erhaltene Ausgabe für einen fairen Preis bekommt (habe für meine unter 30 Euro bezahlt), dann greift zu. Es lohnt sich!!!
