LOCTITE Threadlocker 262 is a permanent, high-strength, red threadlocker that is applied to fasteners up to 3/4" (19mm) in size before assembly. Designed for securing parts that must withstand heavy shock, vibration, or extreme or environmental conditions. Localized heating and hand tools are required to separate parts. LOCTITE 262 is a red, general purpose, medium to high strength, thixotropic methacrylate-based adhesive. Steel fixture time is 15 min, brass 8 min and stainless steel 180 min. It fluoresces under UV light to allow monitoring. Ideal for applications where any migration of the adhesive must be prevented. Can tolerate slight contaminations of industrial oils. Suitable for all metal fasteners. Perfect for temperatures between -65°F - 300°F (-54°C - 149°C). LOCTITE 262 is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS include the locking and sealing of large bolts and studs (up to M25 ). The thixotropic nature of LOCTITE 262 reduces the migration of liquid product after application to the substrate. GRADE ADHESION This high-strength thread locker is tested to the lot requirements of Specification Mil-S-46163A. MIL-SPEC ( standard or -SPEC) adhesive are products that meet or exceed the US defense standard, a measure of quality set to standardize the expectations of all products supplied to the US . Each lot is also tested by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), a body of skilled personnel that specializes in testing materials and generating standards of quality. Finally, LOCTITE 262 is approved by the NSF (National Science Foundation), an independent US governmental agency that supports research and education in science and engineering.
